OEM Fog light issue...electrical people step in

I've been running these aftermarket foglights and decided that it was time to put the OEMs in. I got a set from my cousin's 97 maxima, and they were not working, I figured the bulbs were blown. I purchased new 55w H3 bulbs and installed them. I go to test the foglight yesterday and to my surprise NOT one of the foglight went on...confused, I double checked my aftermarkets and they still worked, keep in mind that they were wired to the stock harness. I am wondering if anyone else has had any kind of issue. I'll be doing some more tinkering..later checking for continuity and such, but I'm a bit baffled...

Maybe you spliced the wires to the aftermarkets and chewed up the stock plugs...

Use a multimeter and check for power, or simply poke it with one of those lite up voltage picks.

that would be a thought, but I merely used wire taps...for the aftermarkets...knowing I'd likely come back to stockers

What *might* have happened...is that the wire taps cut the original wires and you're only getting power to the tapped side.

Again, use a multimeter and check both places.

definitly check and see if those wire taps cut power flo to the stock fog harness plug. I would take those off and return the line to factory.

Also check and make sure your h3 bulb is clipped into the internal hanress(inside the fog housing).

Q,

I may take you up on that offer. I think you fellers would be greatly interested in what I found out.

here it goes: As I had the wiring setup, by splicing into the factory harness, but keeping the factory connector on it. Being a bone head when I installed the fogs, I didn't seal the factory plugs so essentially what happened was that there was power on the positive wire of the exposed plug, which combined with rain/weather corroded. It makes all the sense in the world...but atleast I've figured it out.

Q- I'll hit you up sometime this week. Thanks bro!

Thanks to all for the input...
