You can cut a piece of wood the size of the battery tray and just place the optima on top of it. Very simple & it's working for me. You can even paint it black if you like.

What's the difference between a regular OEM battery and the Optima one?

Look here...

I used the factory hold-downs with some red poly bushings I had laying around a a couple washers. You can kinda see in the pic. No fitment/clearance problems, easy and the battery ain't going nowhere.

Optimas are dry cell battery, non-spillable, batteries. Very nice batteries. You can drain them all the way down and charge them right back up, they love it.

OEM's are wet cell batteries, spillable. Cheaper don't last nearly as longer.

Basically optima's are the one to have.

umm only the yellow top (deep cycle) does that. if u drain the red top all the way you'll lose the battery's max power just like any other battery...maybe not as much w/ the Optima as compared to regular batteries.

also the Optimas are not "dry cell" instead of battery acid there's gel electrolyte there...but it is a seal battery.

Optima are shorter than OEM battery.

Go to your local auto part store like Trak Auto and look for an 8" J hook battery hold down kit. It's the same length as the OEM, but there are more threads enough for you to secure the shorter Optima.

That is exactly what i did to hold my red top. You could hardly see the 1.5 inch piece that i made of two 3/4" mdf plates...You can paint it black to make it even more stealth
