Whoa! Car smoking and squeeling like crazy!!!

Ok so I woke up on this particularly cold morning, hit the autostart to let the car warm up as i walked outta the house i hear an intense whistling noise. Im like damn my s/c doesn't sound that loud and the rpms are kinda struggling, pull out of driveway the bish starts smoking, i go uh-oh i bet my s/c belt ripped(no surprise its been running with a rib shredded for almost a year now). Pop the hood, find out its not the s/c belt because its still intact, so I back my car back in the driveway, the noise stops the smoke dissappears and the car sounds normal again. I didn't take any chances and had my roommate drive me to school for my last final exam but when I go home I have to attack this problem, do you think something was just rubbing on the belt or the belt just popped off alignment? Shouldn't there be more wear and tear, I mean the thing was really smoking!

Already fried my alternator almost 2 years ago and it was replaced under warranty because it was defective.

Matt- I think that's what I'm gonna have to do but obviously its prying at my brain what could've caused this. Severe temp changes? I guess i'll just pop the passenger front wheel off when i get home and check all the belts to see what the disfunctionality is.

Got my emergency belt today, getting a stock belt tomorrow think I'm just gonna rock that till I get back to NJ? Car is getting towed in the morning to my friends shop and I'll be getting down and dirty and deciding whether or not to hook the s/c back up immediately.
