More 00VI talk...this time motor.

I have been reading up on the 00VI and it seems great. I know it is possible to put the VQ30DE-K into a 4th gen, but would it be easier to put the a 2000-2001 5 Speed ECU and Wiring Harness in? along with the motor and VI setup? that way you dont have to try and work around anything. Can you think of any codes that would pop up? I have been checking them out and the sytem seems pretty close, minus the vacuum for the VI. Can some of you that are more educated on this throw some input in?

I thought about this when I got my motor. Included (much to my suprise) was a fully intact wiring harness. Usually, they don't want to mess with it and cut the harness at the firewall. Biggest reason I didn't do it was to keep my JWT ECU. I wouldn't have any codes if I hadn't messed with the EGR stuff and I'm pretty sure thats fixable if I could ever find the time to sit down and mess with it a little.

Swapping wiring harness's sounds like a lot of work, though.

My shop that has done my tranny swap in both cars will swap the wiring harness for $200. My current motor has 180+k, I think I might start searching for a complete VQ30DE-K (unless someone thinks it will not work). Then he would charge me $400 to swap motors, $200 to swap the harness and ECU. If I have no codes. I would really do this if I knew there would be no codes. Wouldnt that put me at around 190whp/190wtq stock? in a 3,050lb car, then with mods I should be pushing 210whp/210wtq.

Sounds good. If you've got someone who'll do it for those prices, might as well give it a shot. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

i dont see any problem with the swap... as long as you are swapping apples and oranges it is kosher.

It is a good idea, but then you run into a little more trouble with the drive by wire and I would have to get a 6 speed trans (I think) either way it would be more cash. My main goal is no check engine light.

The benefits of the 3.5l heavily outweight the costs.

Easiest way to get rid of the CEL is sell the minima
