Battery relocation

I want to relocate my battery to the trunk. I orderd some t blocks on the net one for the ground and one for power. My question is this. I plan on all my neons, tv and a few other little things are in the enginebay. If I plug all them in the t block will 1 gauge wire be big enough? My stereo and air suspension runs off a seperate power wire coming from the trunk so I will just shorten that wire. as for the ground i was going to plug all them to the oter t block and run 1 gauge to the rear as well. Will this work.
thanks

Brandon

Good luck with that. I wouldn't advise that, since you have to keep in mind that if you were to put it in the trunk, how would you secure it down. It has it be tied down, otherwise the battery can tip over and get acid leak all over your trunk and eat away the metal. You would need a very very long cable from the trunk to the engine compartment. It would be a pain if you would need to jump your car if you had it in the trunk. I know, cuz I have a E320 and it located under by the spare tire.

I don't know about your setup but try not to put to many wires on one block keep it simple and don't forget your fuses for your miscellaneous items and switches. I blew a few during mine it took me 2 1/2hrs to do tedious but simple.

If you use an Optima battery and a battery tray screwed to the floor on the left side of the trunk as shown above... No acid leaks and tied down (personally I wouldn't use an open cell battery in the trunk)

And actually since most cars are driven forward into a parking spot, it's easier to boost.

Mercedes don't count since you have to remove the rear seat bottom or the spare tire on the newer models.

Yeah, $12 gets you a big enough box for almost any size battery.

I made my own box to cover the battery but I don't like the looks of it. I may consider getting the marine box from autozone..

There is a nice billet battery tray made for Optima on ebay. Too bad it doesn't fit our Optima battery size. I think we take group 35 battery size. The price is more than fair compare to other battery box on the market.

Here's a univeral one but it doesn't look as nice as the other two.

Negative should be grounded to a clean body. I would put a fuse on the power wire. I'm plan on moving my main fuse for my 0 gauge to the trunk.

also there is this gooey stuff that help conduct electricity, for got the name of it but i used it on my headlight bulb harness when using overwattage bulbs, anyone know what im talking about?

ok ao i took a look at my battery, the positive connection has 1 wire going to the starter, and 2 going to the fuse box, and a little loop between the 2 going to the another part of the starter...i think. how would i connect these?

Why in the world would you put a fuse on the +power wire? That is pointless.

If you don't have a fuse, then you would have like 10 feet of cable that will burn and probably start a fire if the insulation is damaged and the cable touches the chassis.

what type of fuse? doent they come in diff strength?

japmax, yeah i think im find something like this

and put the 2 fuse wire and the sarter wire to it

You need an independent fuse located close to your battery it will be a 0 gage fuse holder and fuse any Car Stereo Store will have this they do relocations all the time.
