i dunno about u guys but whenever i see modded camries out there, i start to laugh at them and find it amusing. its quite funny and amuzing to me when i see a camry with bodykit, rims, exhaust and lowered, it just looks wierd to me. why would anyone mod such car (true 4 door grocery getter)??? same thing with accords but im more used to modded accords than camries. i find it quite amusin in both cases where people mod such cars and then on the other hand, here i am modding a maxima but i dont see anything wrong with modding a maxima ?! r u guys the same way? guess its all about owning a true sports sedan !

I used to think that as well when I had my max. But the max has always been dubbed since the early 90's as "the 4 door sports car" or sports sedan. I don't know why but people tend to associate performance with maxima's more so than camrys or accords.

I see your point but to someone with a 350Z, Corvette, or other RWD sports car would say whats the point of modding a FWD four door Maxima. I know the Maxima is much more sportier than a Camry and can look much better but if you were given a Camry and couldn't afford to buy another car you might do the same thing.

I wonder what they say about us?

What makes us different than them? We own a 4 door sports sedan? Since when? I'm sure they say the same exact thing about themselves.

Yes I'm in the same boat I keep laughing at the camrys specialy the 96 with dual exaust and a body kit that hangs around lowell... (I've seen it a couple of times)
but I'm getting used to see them so I stop caring as much...I think other cars drivers think the same about our cars, that make it even...

some camrys are as fast stock as our maximas so i don't see a problem with it. any riced car is funny to me but if someone cleanly modifies their ride then all the power to them. if it looks better than most stock cars, i don't laugh, unless it's a kia or geo...then i laugh.

Don't discriminate. Laugh at all cars.

Have you seen some of the Maximas on here? Total gut-busting.

Maybe you should say this to my friend Glok who owns a camry that ran a 1/4 in a very low 14 na. If the maxima is such a true sports sedan, how come you can get a TRD supercharger backed by a factory Toyota warranty for the Camry??

Camry V6 (3VZ-FE 1992-1993, 1MZ-FE 1994-2002) is just as quick transmission to transmission if you are comparing the DOHC 3.0's in Maxima's.

However you guys spin it, we drive a 4 doors grocery getter. The majority of people I see in Maximas are old couples who were probably driving a Buick in the 80's and 90's. I don't mean any offense, but people probably feel the same way you feel about people modding Camries when they see a modded Maxima. Just my .02.

its s tough call, from what i have seen, i dont think its as popular to mod a camry as it is to mod a maxima, but i could very well be wrong. i wonder if we have much more aftermarket support then the camry peeps do ? as for the accord , they have us beat, lol !

at the end of the day, it may be funny to see certain cars being pimped out, but its all good !

I don't see nothing wrong with a modded camry. I've seen a few that looked real nice and clean (not outrageous or ricey). If you you have a creative mind...I give props to anyone trying to hook up their ride....just don't overdo it....

a ride is a ride, its how tastefully its done that is the point, of course the more $$ you have, the more show and go you will have and vice a versa, i see some ugly assss rides that people dumped to much $$ into that look like crap and i seen some nice cars( altimas, jettas, accords, old school rides, mini trucks, etc, 240s, one civic, etc, etc) that are simple and clean, but everyone has their own taste, so....i will just keep mine at clean

Is that just for a 350Z? If so, what does that have anything to do with a S/C Maxima being warrented by Nissan?

thats what they had last. but the stillen max they had last time had a 36 month warranty on the motor if it failed because of s/c. if you put a brand new s/c in a brand new maxima it comes with a 36 month gaurantee.

I have never saw or seen a Modded Camry. I've seen Accords especially all generation except for the current gen Accord. Imagine that, a current one that car is so ugly, who want to mod a car that looks like a cockroach.

lol @ cockroaches. The accord sedans would look awfully disgusting if they were modded in any way. I have seen a couple tastefully modded coupes out there already. As far as camry's go, they're not that slow, i remember running neck and neck with a white 96 5spd with a "se" badge, back in '98. I've seen a few modded ones, but they're very very rare. Most altered camry's i've seen only have some ugly chrome wheels on them.

I dont see many but I saw a nice 96 camry semi dark blue with gun metal rims and a drop and I must say it looked sexy, i couldnt stop staring at it.

I agree I dont laught at a well modded car, it sture were in the same catagory both 4 door "grocery getters" but the max was made a little mroe sproty and with more power, and style, but I agree with Ant, if you couldnt afford a better more "true" sports car then I'd be on a camry forums finding out about LEDs and trannies, etc.

Maximas are more mod friendly because they come 5-spd. An auto v6 camery and auto max would be neck to neck in the 1/4 so watch out.

My friend had a an auto 4 banger camery and he modded and we always pick on him...lol

besides the point toyota didnt make a V6 5spd vehicle till recently.

and i must add there is many VERY riced out maximas in my area so.. ...

V6 5-sp. And he ran a very low 14.x 1/4. I'm talking 14.3-14.1 or something.

GLoks was a 97. 97 was the first year they offered the V6 and the 5spd, and as we know those are really rare. Far more rare than a 5spd max.

The average drivers age of a toyota is like 47. That's why Toyota came out with the scion. It's their try at getting at younger buyers.

I have a friend with a modded Camry and yeah it looks pretty funky.

1992-1993 3vz-fe SE V6's could be had with a 5speed
1994-1996 1mz-fe SE-V6's coule be had with a 5speed
1997-(I'm not sure when they stopped production) 1mz-fe CE-V6's were available with a 5speed. IIRC some LE-V6 models left the production line with a 5speed also.

5speed V6 Camry's do exist, they are just a rare breed, just like a 5speed ES300.
