Supra is 5 speed twin turbo V6 Rice GOD. All ricers aspire to be a Supra, it's the rice benchmark.

This is funny. I was "racing" a guy in a Camry not too long ago. He had driving gloves on, and he thought he was bad ***. He was running really high compression(his exhaust would be loud as hell when he'd downshift towards the light). Well, we were at a light, and I suppose he wanted to give me a go. I didn't hear him rev or anything, then he guned it off the line. I pause and then punch it. I was up past his front bumper in no less than 2 seconds then I shut it down. He does the same damn thing at the next light. No rev, then he guns it, and the same thing happened. I don't know what some people think most of the time.

I didn't realise that if I run 12:1 compression or anything higher, my exhaust would be super duper loud

the '97 v-6 5-speed CE Camry was also another choice of mines when looking for a car. Modded they can be nice cars and are very comparable to the 4th gen maxima.

There is very little difference between modding an accord/camry grocery getter and modding a '98 sterling mist nissan grocery getter.

Low compression maybe? I dunno. His exhaust would be loud as hell when he would downshift. What else would cause that?

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Only medium compression will make the exhaust loud. I should know, I changed my compression many times before settling on the medium compression.

Well put a Turbo in any modded car and it will be alot faster than what people will think.
As far as the whole Camry issue goes - i have seen one Camry that was actually pretty nice and well modded. Was alot better than i thought it would be though and actually was alot like the 4th Gen Max as mentioned above by Kingrukus.

Funny, i had a friend that put 10 grand on his 96 camry, and in a way, it did look clean, but he did tell me that there are camry meets out there.
for me, sometimes it looks funny, a modded camry, but if it looks good, what the heck.

I don't agree at all, and I think it's a bad way to look at things. A Maxima, it's a true sports sedan, how? Because it has blazing acceleration, unbelievable handling, superb braking, a great status symbol, what?

The Camry SE is a decent car. Neither the Camry nor the Maxima is a sports car, period. I'm not saying the Maxima is a bad car, just that it's pretty weird to drive one and laugh at others. There's nothing wrong with an Accord either, except the fake dual exhausts but Nissan started putting them on their cars too.

The overall build quality of an Accord is better than the Max. Laugh at that.

actually my final two choices of cars for my first car was between a 94 v6 5spd camry and a 5spd max, and it didnt seem like to bad a car. it would have been much cheaper then my max and put down nearly the same power. talk about a sleeper though! i couldnt even immagine being one of the fastest cars at my school and id have a 94 camry . but i choose the max because it seemed like a step above the camry in luxury and performance. however it would still be nice to see the looks on my friends faces when i stomp their celica gts, eclipse, and prelude si in my camry. talk about bragging rights.

a few things to prevent my bubble being burst!

Maxima= more sporty design uhhmm kinda...
Maxima= standard V6 we had no sluggish 4s to bring down the market presence
Maxima= from the introduction of the 1st gen, the Maxima has always been a uplevel midsize sedan, 3rd gens were equated to Acura Legends, 4th gens more to ES300s, TLs, and when compared to plebian cars, Camry's and Accords, it was always against the top level V6 leather loaded machines...

and the name Maxima, vs Camry or Accord

also Nissan marketing has always targeted the maxima to a younger sportier crowd even if many oldies that buy them

same with my Lexus SC400, its a very capable 2dr coupe, V8 power, blah blah blah, but with a price of 50-60K more old people bought them more than anything else, but its not an oldies car...

Don't get me wrong, I think the max is hot and definately hotter than the camry but I think making fun of them or thinking it is silly to mod their car is the same as people thinking we are silly for modding a max. There are quite a few younger people but for the most part I see ederly people. All I am trying to say is if we can mod a maxima... than the camry people can mod their cars. Anyway I don't want to start any wars and I don't expect to change anyones mind on how they feel. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION no one has to agree: I respect anyone who loves their car enough to take care of it and even mod it , to make it their own... Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in since I hardly do.

wait im sorry, i just read wat u wrote and i think your nuts.
a max is a nice car but its no better then a camary or an accord.
a max isnt anything near a true sports sedan.
a 5 series, 3 series, c- class, e-class, is300, and many others are true sports sedans. except for the power o the 5.5-6th gen's a max cant really compete with any of these cars.
the max cant even out sell cars in its own catagory.

I know, and I agree...

and in response to liquidvenom, the 4th gen Maxima was the fastest manually shifted 4 door sedan next to the 540... no small peanuts, and was very close to the acceleration of the 1996 TT Z...
sure our Maximas arent race cars but they handle decently, SE 4th gens have a stiffer chassis, sportier wheel/tire combo, as well as stiffer suspension than cars from Toyota and Honda in the same class

I guess where you went to high school they didn't teach you the meaning of a rhetorical question, eh? Of course a Maxima is not a sports sedan. That was a phrase that Nissan marketing coined with the 3rd gen, 4DSD. Besides Nissan saying so, there isn't much to back it up.

By the way, it's Camry, not camary, and the first letter of names are capitalized.

I honestly dont see why modding a FWD V6 Maxima is much different than a FWD V6 Camry. Its arrogant to laugh at them, as I have seen some tastefully modded Camry's that would put many of the maximas on here to shame.
