HID experts step in...wiring harness question

I'm selling a pair of ballasts to a buddy of mine. He has bulbs lined up for the ballast but he'll need a set of wiring harnesses to power the ballast. Where can i find one? I've been to HID planet, but all they sell is OEM grade HID equipment.

-thanks

pick up a 9004 wiring harness w/ relays. pick up 2 9006 male harness. the plugs that are on the 9004 harness that goes into the bulb...cut that and splice it with the 9006 terminal. plug that into the ballast...plug the ballast into the D2S/R bulb and that should work. don't pull the high beam lever...also be very careful on which wire u splice in as + and which - on the ballast (9006 plug).

he wants a harness...i'm going to assume more plug and play than anything else.

in the diagram the relay input comes from the headlight switch before it even hits the hi/lo part of the circuit. in that case he can go hi or lo w/o a problem.

if he's going to run the set up i described...well he's going to lose high beams anyway because unless you have a hi/lo kit or some hi/lo projectors the D2R/S will only light one beam pattern. on the maxima if you pull the high beam lever the low beam will go out...this will cause the ballast to go off. if you release the high beam and go back to low beam that will reignite the ballast (hot restart)...it usually shortens the life of the ballast if you do that.

why not wire the high beam to the ballast? it might work..but if there's any delay in switching the low to high then the ballast will reignite again hot...again not good.

unless you want to run your own wires...you can get the 9004 harness from ebay.

the 9006 male you can get from ebay or from your local parts store.

you can go with what gto put up...but that's kinda a bit PITA if you're not electrically handy...because you have to find that wire..tap into it..run it to a relay..etc etc.

here's what you need:
9004 headlight harness w/ relays (there are plenty on ebay)
this would work
(i'm not sure on the quality on the relays...but it's a start)

9006 male connectors (this is needed only if you're using gen3 hella/phillips ballast)
this goes into the ballast (again this is for reference...YMMV on the price and quality).

ok on to the hardware....

i assume you have 2 ballast (gen 3 are single ballast and igniter in 1 unit...gen 4 are ballast and igniter separate). make sure you verify which is the + and which is the - in the ballast...(VERY IMPORTANT!!).

you should have 2 D2S or D2R bulbs (if you're rocking reflector then D2R is your choice).

putting it together...

install the 9004 wiring harness...female plug goes to your driver side headlight plug. now you have 2 9004 plugs by each headlight...(good time to verify your installation). mount your ballast in a safe location. cut each of the male plugs off...(start w/ one).

there's a (+) low, (+) high, (-) wire.

sometimes the - wire has a ring terminal on the end...if so just connect that to a good body ground...if no ring terminal then put one there and ground it to the body.

take the + low and connect that to the + input on the ballast. the - on the ballast should go to a good ground also.

plug in the bulb and hit the lights....low beam. the bulb should light. repeat for the other side.

again this is not the "best" way to wire it..gto's way is better...but this is pretty much the easiest way to do it.

that should be it....

also i assume you have some kind of projector in your headlight or some kind of light w/ the correct reflectors..right? if not then all you're going to get is two big patches of light and glare all around it...sticking a bulb in a 9004 housing is also the wrong way to do this.
