Yes it does, all 2000+ have a VI of some sort (VQ35DE's stock manifold included)

He did put down 233whp and 230wtq with the old motor on a conservative dyno with stock cams so the VI must be functioning. I believe he held it open all the time and put down more hp but less tq (238whp/223wtq). He doesn't have VTC but he might put down even better numbers with the new motor.

good work tho man, i would love to see it at an east coast meet.

i wish i could get another car and try and sandwich the motor from the FX45/Q45 into the max.

You know what's funny...maxS was the first person to actually put a COMPLETE VQ35 into a 4th gen, ie harness, ECU, brakes, yada, yada.

Where have YOU been?

the only reason you cant mount a stillen supercharger in a vq35, is because of the vtc's are in the way. But tilley did away with that, so you should be able to mount a sc in there..

Like 1fstmax said, no VTCs. Look at the timing cover, it is the VQ30DE's.

emma,

PLEASE please buy a Stillen SC and convince Tilley to install it.

There is a used one that fits a early 5th gen in the Classifieds for ~$2500.

New

Wow yeah thats cool, I hab a 96 Maxima with a custom geared 5speed. I took Actually my VQ35 frum a 03 Pathfinder. It was my uncles and a tree fell on it, and it was totalled, so i took his engine and ....took it apart(the engine wasnt damaged) i took it 2 my shop and lightened and shaved the crank, got high revable rods frum my brother shop, DUNK Performance Thailand, and other goodiees. I used a kit to bring up oil pressure, volume, since i wanted 2 rev higher, changed out the stock water pump for a more performance oriented one, and new timing chains and dampers and tensioner, ported and planned the heads and put new oil vained rods. Bought up the compression to 11.15:1, new gaskets and head bolts and headers, engine oild cooler and bigger radiator with slimmer fans. Sounds costlly , yeah but actually it wasnt. Also i wanted to fabricate a mounting plate to put the 300ZX dual throttle intake manifold but , the clearance wasnt waut i wanted, so i custom bent and fabricated , my own high volume upper manny with 2 throttle bodies, one for frunt 3 cylinders and 1 for the rear 3 cylinders.using the stock TPS ish no prob and few mods for the IACV is needed , the onlee thing was now i had 2 intake throttle bodies and onlee 1 MAFM(mass air flow meter. well since i was going to modiffy the programming of my computer, i basically got the computer to interpuret the reading frum the air meter as doubled, to acknowledge the right air intake.Besides that tho i reused alt and comp brackets frum my VQ30 engine and such accesories like that i basically used frum my old engine. Oo pics are soon 2 be displayed. The big test was can the tranny handle it? Well i had beffed it up with stuff i got or had lying around frum a wrecked 02 SE(engine frunt cover ect smashed) It did for the Dyno which turned a 287.45 HP @ 7100RPM the wheels(All Import Dyno Testers) and 278 lbs TQ. Hmm we figured a better of 300 hp if just @ engine, i was kinda upset i guessed 4 more HP, but ill just go bak and tinkle wif my ECU programming, but 4 sum reason my 3rd gear seems to hab stripped out. It NO LONGER WERKS!!, Wuts this, well i am using a slightlly beefed up 3.0 SE tranny. Wut should i do?????

287whp. Now that's pushing it. There is a 2002 Altima pushing something in the high 280's-290whp with cams and just about every bolt on imaginable.
