Has anyone ever swapped in a RB26 from a GTR into a Maxima?

Yes. It's been done to death.

We've moved on to swapping VQs into them.

It will if you dremel out the 2 mounting tabs on the inside rim of the unit, that way it won't interfere with the TB butterfly plate.

a couple things...a maxima is Front Wheel Drive....skyline is all wheel drive...it would be possible but it would take massive amounts of cash to even complete it...and by the time you do get it done you could've just bought your own skyline here and enjoy the RB that way.

But to answer your question...not to my knowledge has anyone done it.

I did an entire RB swap with transmission and dual exhaust, I've gotten most of the kinks out of it. You have to watch out for a few things though. The 300ZX motor mounts bolt up but just watch out for the bolts when you align them. The ECUs are the same from RB's to Maximas, just make sure you bolt down the ECU real good, once you launch your Max, its gonna lift the front wheels off the ground. The throttle body is no big problem, like Dave said.

If you bore out the RB engine to 3.0, it'll be a V6

You'd need titanium connecting rods for that

Ask stillen or JWT for their RB26 maxima swap kit. I think they are backordered though.

No no CustomMaxima has the RB26 swap kit coming out real soon, I'm pretty sure its on their top secret project maxima which is almost done...A guy I know on the inside said that they were getting released the same time as the 95-96 red/clears

Yeah, I have another little secret project going on though. I will unveil it to the world next week but I'll give you the scoop now. Get ready for it, I put a modified maxima body on a r34 gtr frame. The body had to be lengthened and widened in a few places but it worked. Unless you know maximas pretty well you won't be able to tell the difference.

Quit lying, I just did one in mine. My buddy's switching his 6 spd to one too. Theres hardly any modifications, it bolts right up. I coverted mine to a rear wheel drive too, front and center diff couldnt fit. Sucka puts down like 700 horse with minor mods. I run 9's...
