you should forgive them, even if it was your best friend.

If u nailed his girl then he has every right to key your car.... or nail ur girl... personally i think its cheaper to get a new girl than a paintjob so i'd have perferred he went that route but thats just me. Lmao i'm kiddin btw (omg i hope my girl doesn't read this)

I cant think of a situation that a real "friend" would key your car, our friends I'm sure know how passionate we are about our cars so keying is putting your safety in jepordy.

I'd key his face too, then offer to get his face repainted.

Friend keying your car = Not really a friend
Tell him to pay, or kick his a$s, but make sure you can take him, because if he ends up kicking your as$ than you are just out of luck.
Friends dont do things like that, shoot, i cant even key someone's car even though i hated them with passion, its just wrong.

You never explained why he did it. Why arent you responding to any of our comments?

I don't know if they keyed my rear bumper I need it repainted anyway... so they might actually being doing me a favor... None of my friends are lame enough to do something to my car... but if they were and it wasn't on purpose (which doesn't seem possible) I would forgive them and make
them fix it =( However if it were on purpose no forgiveness =) Personally I think that is a lame way at getting back at someone or hurting someone... but only because I respect everyone who takes care of their car and puts time and work into it ... even if I don't like the car or the person. =)

sorry the reason im not repsonding is because the person that did this to my car is my best friend for about 5 years now and is a fellow org member so i left it for him to state his side of the story but i guess he hasnt yet. i have no clue why he would even do this. i guess he wanted to be an @ss and prove a point but still though he knew how much money and blood sweat and tears i put into this car. i would never do this to my worst enemy i dont have a clue why my best friend would do this.

he fessed up to it and admitted that he was way out of line and would pay for the damages but still i dunno know if i can let it go that easily. he knew that car has been my whole entire life and my most prised possession and the fact that he would vandalize it was way out of line...........

Chances are if he/she is keying your car they are not a friend. now if it is accidental, like they accidentally let thier key scratch the car by not payin attention then yeah i would forgive them. its only a car. but i doubt that would ever happen.

If someone who ya think is your best friend keys your car... there's gotta be some underlying issue that y'all gotta resolve... I mean... that's pretty messed up for a "best" friend or any friend to do.... now ya say ya don't know why he would do it? Something is missing from this story...

I would never forgive someone who did it intentional. Why the hell would you forgive someone who would do it. Even if he/she did pay to get it repaint it, just doesn't justify forgiveness after keying it in the first place.

If it was:
Accidental, but can be buffed out... Call him a moron and have him buy me lunch to make up for the hour I'll spend buffing, and forgive him.

Accidental, but required painting... Call him a stupid moron, have him pay for the most economical good repair possible, and forgive him.

Intentionally, but by accident... "This guy was hitting on your wife and he told me he had a white maxima so I went out and keyed it - I thought I was keying his car!". Same rules as accidental.

Intentionally, on purpose (!)... He would be given one opportunity to offer to pay for the best repair method I could think of. If he takes that opportunity then all he does is pay for my car and we are no longer friends after that. If he refuses, then it's reported to the police as vandalism and they will charge him with it. After he's found guilty I would file a small claims action to get as much of the repair money as possible. ($3k limit here, IIRC). No longer a friend.

Also, if I can prove it was him then I would not go through insurance - don't want my rates to go up.

What kind of friend keys your car? This thread/poll sucks -- too many questions, not enough answers.

EDIT: An Org member did it? What a hater. Wow.... someone needs an azzkicking.

It depends what kind of friend he was, meaning best friend that you hang out with everyday and you knew that person for a long period of time. I would forgive him and make him pay for it. If it was a friend that i see once in a while (nothing Serious) I wouldn't. I wouldn't call the cops, i would just take the matter in to my own hands.

I think that I would be beside myself with rage when I saw my car keyed. When I found out a "friend" did it........ somebody would be bailing me outta jail. That is BS and I would atleast have him arrested, or a small claims court judgement. The word of some sh1t34t3r who keys cars, IMO isnt worth a damn.

Depends.

We need to know the truth behind this before a conclusion could be made.

I'd have to agree with this response... it really depends on the circumstances, but we'd need to know more than that question. (Barc had a good response, though...)

Ok, he's been your best friend for 5 years and just keyed it for no apparent reason other than to be an ass (as you say)? Time for some better friends.
