1989 Maxima steering problems

1989 Maxima steering problems

Hi i just got a steal on a 1989 Maxima only thing i could find in the whole car wrong is the steering the equipments fine heres the problem i need suggestions
any would be nice...

Ok on the Firewall in the center there's a block thats attached to the firewall
also to the steering to keep it from swaying it looks like a rubber boot is worn but i can't tell and no maunal so i'm flying blind

now here's my question does the whole dang thing need replaced or can i get a new boot for it? and is there a more permanant fix?

someone had mentioned spot weld it but i don't agree but it would fix it ... any idea's would help...

if this was the worng place to post this sorry let me know..

Still steers but it's like a bad allignment i have looked it over it's all ok but the block moves when it shouldn't

Thanks for the info

I checked out what you had mentioned. I went over this with a fine tooth comb so to speak. You where correct rack gone bad. replacing rack power steering the works... thanks your advise helped more than you think..
