How to remove the aftermarket dash kits?

What is the best way to remove the aftermarket dash kit? If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's the aftermarket kits that you put on top of you console with the use of two-way tape.

I wanna remove it from a max i just bought, what would be the best way? The tape is really stuck onto the dash, and it feels like if i ripped it off, it'll rip everything underneath off....

Use a heat gun and get it nice and hot. It will come off, your going to need something to get under it and pry gently. The dash is never going to be the same under it, you'll need to put a new kit on. Here's what mine looked like after I got the first kit off.

Unless you take the dash out and completely sand it down and refinish it, it will never be the same again.

And my new kit went on right over that mess and looks like this....

Take your time, good luck!

Hey Tom,

How far are you from Nutley? Work in Nutley, moving to Hoboken. Need a local mechanic!

I bet I'm like 15-20 min max from Nutley. Look up Elmwood Park 07407 on mapquest.
