well seeing how much parts would cost me for my tranny ahem.. 1.2k (i killed the whole thing) plus 300 labor i realized somethin. (dont want to start a flame or nothin) but i dont think my max and wallet are not cut out for racing. if i was to fix my tanny and start racing again ill be in the same position again. my friend told me somethin today tht hit me hard, my car looks so nice and i should put a kit and rims on it he said people would pee their pance looking at it. and tht my car is not pratical for a kid that cant even go to a strip bar yet, to race a luxury car against these hondas (i did turn peoples heads racing it like o shiet u see tht 4 door auto beat tht si eheh). 4k for a super charger is bs and i would need a stronger tranny, with tht i can get crx, engine swap nos the whole crack load, since im so in love for racing i should have maxima for crusin and crx for street/track racing. so i decided to take the road down to show instead of performance. i would love more than anything to make my car faster but shiet it is just fricken way too much money, show tho dosent cost as much and maximas are rare so i will still turn heads, maybe later in life i will race a maxima and show the true potential that this incredible car has.

 

You don't really need a stronger tranny, you just need one that is set-up for higher horsepower. Don's VB is the only thing I know of that helps the tranny hold up.

As far as other upgrades, its always been about $$$ for all of them, the more you spend the more modifications you have, unless you are industrious enough to do some of your own.

If you are in a position to own two vehicles, that is the best way to go. Unless you plan to do some racing that involves the steering wheel (i.e. autocross) I don't know why you'd choose to go with a Honda for your racer. If you want a straight-line performer, it's hard to beat Mustangs and Camaros for performance parts choices and prices.

 

Since when are Maxima's RARE? i see em all over the place.

 

i dont see many 5th gen maximas.. maybe they are just not trendy YET hmm.. i hope they will score high like accord... trendy a** hondas.

 

Damn! I could not have said it better my self. I am dealing with the same issues as you right now, my tranny may be dead and I am starting to run out of money. Also once I get my car fixed I am going to be tarafid of ever doing a fast 3rd to 4th gear shift. I think as a reasult of this my car may not see the track until I get my confidence back. The big day for me is monday, my car is going in to have my new ACT Clutch installed and my transmission and Stillen Alluminum Flywheel will be checked out for damage, if my tranny and flywheel are in need of replacement{or rebuilt}, I could be out 2K dollars! And that is pushing my available resources to the very limit and then some. I am praying that just my Claunch is damaged and I will only be out $700, if this is true I can buy my body kit and have my dual exaust put in, but if not they are going to have to wait until next year. I am also planning on buying a car that I can drive in the winter months and have as a spare, I am thinking maybe a 92 se max or 93 accord.

I was looking for parts for my 2k1 SE, and DANG!! that stuff was expensive! And I don't really want much, just the front and rare brace, a lighting upgrade, a shorter shifter, and some other cosmetic stuff. But just like that, I was looking at a bill close to 1K...

I don't even want to contemplate the posibility of doing any performance upgrades...

You think show is cheap? Nobody pees their pants looking at a Maxima with rims and a bodykit, dime a dozen. Going the show route is at least as expensive as racing if you do it for real. $2,000+ interiors, $5,000+ paint job, etc. Hell the next wing I want to get for my car is $920 and that's my wholesale cost. Sure you think it's cheap at first, body and rims aren't all that much. But it's just like racing where an intake and exhaust isn't that much. After that, parts get more and more expensive. $4,000 S/C, $4,000 in custom body work, it's all the same thing. You wanna play, you gotta pay.
It's true that a modified maxima turns heads, but that's because we're modifying a 4 door family sedan. Most other people aren't silly enough to do it.
