ball joint questions on a 99 model maxima.
I have a 1999 maxima that has over 110,000 miles on it. I have one ball joint that is worn completely out. I see that sell a new ball joint replacement for the 99 but do not see how or if it comes apart? Does anyone know how this is replaced, other than replacing the complete control arm?? Also does replacement ball joints have grease fittings in it or is it strickly by who the manfacture is?
thanks

Get a new ball joint, they are sold separately from the control arm. Theres a pin that holds them into the arm. They are very easy to change. As far as the grease fittings, most of them have one, however if the grease is gone or the boot in the ball joint is broken, dirt and crap has gotten in there. Replacement ones are about $25 each.

I don't know for sure about Nissan...but most manufacturers are riveting on the ball joints to the control arms. You may have to drill out the rivets to allow the new one to bolt on. Make SURE that the new nuts and bolts are the proper grade. Not just what you get out of the tool box in the basement. lol
