Wow the new Ultimate Altima will get the 3.5L with 240 hps for the top of the line SE model coming this September. Now who will buy the Maxima if it is slower and pricer than the Altima? Consumers are smarter than that these days. What is Nissan thinking when they use the 3.5 in all the other models except the Maxima? I thought the Maxima is the flagship of Nissan. Shouldn't it get the first crack with the newer engine? Just wanted to hear some feedbacks on this issue from the Maxima members.

I heard of plans to change the wheelbase of the max to be longer (yuk!) and maybe a v8?? They are killing the max!!!! I'm so sad!!!!!

It will most likely still be the flagship. Just an overweight sluggish flagship. I will not buy it if it's a boat.

the new max is supposed to be coming in at 260 HP. the longer wheel base will give it a smoother ride too.

If the design is promising and the price is right, I'll definetly be looking into it.

Maybe they're putting the new engine in the Altima because they want to boost Altima sales?

I'm sure they'll do something to the Maxima, which will be better than what they did to the Altima. Hopefully, they won't make it into a boat like NickStam said.
