Those with tint please reply

Those with Tint - what tint did you use? 15%, 20%, 25%, 30% or 35%?? I am having my 04SE tinted next week and am curious whether to use 30% or 35%?? I know that 30% is illegal all the way around but am wondering if the extra 5% will make that big of a difference?? Also, anyone with nav - did the tint interfere with the system?? Thanks for the comments... Will post pics after the install...

I went with 25%, the 30% would be absolute lightest I would consider. Keep in mind the lighter tint works just as good blocking heat as the darker tint.

I think mine was 35% Luminar. I am in the military and travel from state to state so did not want to mess with the different laws. Also, the reason I did not go metallic tint. Personally, I like metallic tint....but had to do the best for my situation personally. Mine looks fine, but wish I would have been able to do a nice light bronze metallic tint with my paint. Again, my main thing is to cut down any police stops and enjoy my drive.

On my 2k2 I went with 28% all around, and it wasn't too bad, but I kinda regretted it. I think the lighter tint has a more "classy" look...but thats just my opinion. I would go with 35%.

I am totally illegal with my tint. I have 5% all the way around and 30% tint on the windshield. I love the black on black tint I have, its very mafia style. Been stopped a few times by the police, but never gotten a ticket for tint (knock on wood). Tint should not effect your navi at all though, no matter how dark you go.

Mine is 42% all around and 50% on windshield. Wanted to give it more of a stock look with a smoke tint, but not much. Would love to have the metallic smoke, but don't want to give a reason to the cops to stop me...

According to the law in the state of california, and many other states. You can legally have 35% in teh front windows not including the windshield, no tint is allowed on the windshield. But for the rear windows you can go as dark as double limo, becuase thats all that exists.

Double limo is basically two layers of 5% tint. Of all film that i have experience with i would recommend the titanium film.

I went with 35% on the sides and 25% on the rear glass. It came out good. I think the metallic tints are the only ones that will give you trouble with reception. Depending on how much you want to spend, you might also want to look into Huper Optik tint also. It is supposed to offer better heat rejection without the potential interference that comes with metallic tints. Here's the link http://www.huperoptik.com/Automotive...t=NaviAuto.inc

if i could do it over again..i would get 20% all windows cept the windshield...right now i have 5% in all the rear glass and 30% in front two windows..nothing on windshield...it looks pretty good but in the future i will change it to either 5% all around or 20% all around

good luck with your decison man..whatever you choose will make your car look 10 times better..tint is awesome

29% Quantum Film on the sides, 19% Quantum on the rear window. Perfect imo, doesnt make any troubles for driving at night. I did notice however, that the keyless entry doesnt work from as far as a distance as it did before. I cant imagine how 5% would affect this.

Well.... i have 20% well thats what the person claimed who put it on my car .... when i was pulled over (IN NYC) it came up 14.5% on their meter. I think those things are rigged anyway.... Being that i have many friends in the NYPD a glimpse of a pba badge and card got me off the hook. I love the way the darker tints look on all color maximas but if you are afraid of a run in with the cops make it a little lighter.

In my opinion i would DEFINATELY go DARKER TINTS THO ON THE LIQUID SILVER, ESPECIALLY WITH A FROST OR A LIGHT INTERIOR . ON DARKER CARS WITH DARK INTERIOR THE TINT WOULD APPEAR A LITTLE BIT DARKER. but once again do what you feel is best 30% is the absolute lighest i would go.

I have 28% on the Maxima and 15% on the S2000. My state currently doesn't have any restrictions on window tint. Anything lighter than 28% would be too light for me.

20% LLUMAR Tint on sides and rear. I wouldn't recommend going any lighter. I've done the 32% before on other Max's and have regretted it. shouldn't bother you at 32%. Besides, if I get worred after seeing a I just slide the sunroof cover back and let some light in

35% all around here. I would have liked to go darker but the hassle from police wasn't worth it to me.

This is the look I was after - thanks to all who replied - will probably do the 30% all around - I am not sure that the cops will notice the difference...

Will post pics after the install.

Thanks again!!
