I know 2 reasons:

Less gas=more air and moisture in the air can cause condensation in the tank=water in your gas.

Also some cars when you have a 1/4 tank or so the fuel pump is exposed and can overheat.

gas level

when convienant i always fill up at 1/2 tank....psychological effect of not spending so much PLUS if an evacuation of my island is necessary I'm first out the door.

I think this thread is pointless, but with the fuel that you supposedly save when only driving on half a tank, won't you just waste that when you drive to the gas station to fill up twice as often?

Haha I am not sure if fuel makes that much of a difference but even if it does it'll probably be minimal since the difference between a full tank and half tank since its only a few pounds and would not be that heavy at least to me.

But for a big example, I drove with a 2 18" wheels in the trunk an two in the back seat, and compared to the pull or acceleration before I had to wheels in my car, you could feel a difference in acceleration but thats only because the engine was working harder and louder and it seemed like it but in reality the acceleration was nothing compared to my car with nothing in it
