Probably redundant (sorry!) - painting valve covers
#2
I painted mine using Duplicolor, high-heat, ceramic-based spray paint. I removed the whole valve cover from the motor. I sanded off the rough, bronze-tinted coating that comes on the cover of a VE30DE motor for a 3rd gen Max. Used my DeWalt mini grinder. Sprayed several light coats. Dries pretty fast. Let sit overnight before starting engine. Looked great until my detailer used an engine bay cleaner that ate most of it off.
Have to re-do it sometime.

Thanks for replying!
Oh man that SUCKS! Armor All doesn't hurt it does it? I want to paint my cover BLACK I think--don't have to worry about touching it up. Either that or polish it.... Where did you get the paint?

I don't think Armor All would hurt. It's not that strong. This was real heavy duty stuff that he sprays on. It eats up grease and oil. My intake plenum is bare aluminum and it even brightens that up. All the black plastic stuff like fuse boxes, power steering fluid container and coolant overflow container comes out nice and clean and shiny. Just don't get it on paint! I got the paint at a Trak Auto store. Advance or Auto Zone probably has it too. Any national chain parts store. It's usually by the touch-up paint.
