ATTN: Anyone with polished intake manifolds please read --->>

I was told that once you install a polished intake manifold that the heat under the hood will eventrually make them fade out to a white color. Is this true? Any maintenance required to keep that "chrome" look??

painting it
I was thinking about giving mine a rough polish job and then painting it metallic gold with engine enamel like i've done to some of the other stuff under my hood along with my calipers, rotors, lowering springs and soon to be RSB. you think the paint will stick and hold up well. i was thinking like 1 coat of primer and 3-4 coats of paint along with 2 clear top coats. I think it will look hot and you won't have to get too good with the polish job becuase it will cover all the imperfections.

for the intake manifold i wouldn't worry..it's cooler air that passes by it...cooler than engine. basically all you have to do is to clean it once in a while.

Polished parts can get tarnish by road salt and degreaser. I use Blue Magic chrome polish to keep them shiny. You could clear coat them or clear powdercoated them. I'm going to get my valve cover repolish and powdercoat it candy apple red.

Tony: if i were to get the intake manifold from you, would you be able to get it clear-powder coated for me before you ship one out to me? How much you think to get this done?
I should be ready to order one from ya very soon![Big Grin](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Yes, I can do the polishing and powdercoating all at once. The intake manifold is $300, so tack on another $150 for the clear powdercoating.
