I just got another car. This car has been sitting for almost 1 1/2 with a full tank of gas. I need to get rid of it since it wasn't been treated. I can get the fuel out the car. but,where would I get rid of 10 to 14 gallons of gas?

maybe you should just drive around, then clean the fuel injectors and filter.

 

How long has it been sitting - a month and a half or a year and a half? If its only a month and a half, I wouldn't worry about it. Just dilute the existing gas from time to time when it gets down 1/4 or 1/3 of a tank and don't take it below 1/4 for awhile.

When was the fuel filter last changed? They should be replaced every 30K.

 

Does the car run? I would add nothing but a bottle of octane booster in the gas tank...

drain it and sell it cheap to someone with a pos car that doesnt care, thats what i did.

 

My local Pep Boys excepts old chemical waste like motor oil and gasoline. You may want to check that out in your area.

 

A full tank of fresh clean gas can sit for a long time without going bad. It's when it sits with very little gas in the tank that it tends to turn to varnish and go bad. You should be fine, just start the car and dump a bottle of Techron in the tank.

 

Lots of 2 liter soda bottles and alot of matches.......

 

buy a gallon of pepsi and get your drink on.

 

put in a HUGE bottle and put a match to it....instantly it'll be gone..jk

i think you can dispose of it the way you dispose motor oil and anti-freeze.

 

as long as the tank is sealed properly, it's usually not that bad of shape.

I bought a car a while back that had a 1/4 tank of gas sitting in it for almost 2 years.. swapped engines in it (reason it was parked was blown engine), and the thing fired right up when I turned the key.. no problems with the gas.

just drive the sucker to a gas station.. when you get there, fill the tank the rest of the way up with 93 octane and keep driving. no problems usually.

Siphon it out and let it evaporate.

 

Same place you would put used motor oil....

Or keep it in some five gallon buckets and use it as a cleaner.

 

Siphone it out a gallon at a time and take it to Wolly world, they should be able to dispose of it. You could use a gallon at a time in another vehicle to just burn it off.

 

I agree to fill up the rest of the tank and go for a long drive, stretch her legs a bit. Or if you'd like I'll be up there in atlanta tommorow I'll take the gas off your hands, especially with these gas prices. . . .

 

drain it, store it, use it in your lawn mower lol.
