What happens when you lose a liscense plate?

What happens when you lose a liscense plate?
Well I was driving on I-96 in michigan, and somehow my liscense plate must have flew off the car, as its gone now. Unless it was stolen, but I doubt that would happen. So whats involved in getting a new one, anone know?

go to your state's DMV site to ordera new one.

My uncle's license plates got stolen. He went to the DMV and got new ones.
