The part that touches the pad will be cleaned as you drive by the brakes. The hub will continue to rust. I had my zinc plated rotors turned and it took all the zinc plating off the hub. I just painted the hub part with high temperature caliper paint. There are tons of brands out there but make sure you use something that says it's designed for brakes, calipers, and drums (they get hotter than the regular high temp paints get). If they're starting to rust, sand them then paint them and you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
he's talking about on the hub area, not the friction surface.
for rust on the hub area, you can clean it up and hit them with high temp black (or whatever color) paint, or powdercoat them.
either that or send them to a zinc plater and have them plated.
the high temp black paint is what I do on them for quick and dirty jobs, but powdercoating will last longer.. (but most people don't have a powdercoater in their garage like I do.

Same here...I got over 2 years and almost 40,000 miles on mine and no rust at all. I only get a little surface rust on the friction surface (the part that had the zinc coting worn off) after I wash the car or it rains all night, but it's gone after I use the brakes for the first time.

FYI...brembo doesn't really endorses this use/machining of their blank rotors.
FYI2...majority of the Brembo rotors that are drilled and/or slotted fall under the above category unless you're rocking their ubber $$$ big brake kit.
