How true is it to wait 72 hours after resetting the ECU to pass inspection?
I just had my KS replaced on Sunday and plugged my stock ECU back in this morning for inspection. The computer failed me because it had recently been plugged in. I'm assuming that the ECU resets after being unplugged for a long time. I'm not throwing codes at all but it's been months since I drove with the stocker.
I do have 60 days to let the ECU get used to the engine and KS but they tell me to wait 72 hours then come back. I'm thinking about waiting longer.
What do you guys think?

to what MDeezy said.. It think it takes on the order of 200-250 miles and a few complete cycles to get the ECU out of its "just reset" state.Deezo - make sure you turned the ECU screw back all the way - I know someone else had a problem where the car would never exit this "learning" mode and it turned out to be their ECU screw was not turned all the way anti-clockwise to its stop.
Cheers.

I had the same problem the last two times I emission tested. It had been days and many miles since I had reset the ECU before I went in, but they still could not get a reading. I don't know the exact mileage or time the car has to run before the ECU can be scanned but I went back a week later and they still could not read the ECU. Then a week after that it worked.
