Working for the world's 2nd largest software company, there are quite a bit of (imho) 'overpaid' people in the organzation and our auto demographics (here in VA and at HQ in NoCal) seem like 1 out of 4 drive Mercedes and 3 out of 5 drive Bimmers (M and X series), all of whom look down on anything but European cars. They especially have no respect for Japanese cars. Anybody else dealing with such snobbery?

so true. i've been on the bimmer forums a couple of times, they even rag on each other (m5 on the m3's, m3's on the 325's and they all seem to rag on the 318's...)

Well, regardless of trim level, some of us still can't figure out why Nissan would blemish such a car as the Maxima with a manual transmission. I mean in this era of high technology and sophistication, why does Nissan saddle its flagship with such a piece of "stone age" equipment. They must think that we Americans are slow to embrace high technology items like the Automatic Transmission.

It's ok.. I understand that the concept of a manual tranny is too hard for you to figure out... go run some 15s...

You want snobbery?

Over this side of the pond, the nearest yer average plutocrat would get to a Jap car would be a 400 Lexus, and that's only because no one's told them about Toyota. They are going to be so ****ed when they find out.

The Max, unfortunately is as popular as an ugly orphan with bad breath. (No offence, of course.)

.... on the same note, why then does Nissan sell the Maxima outside of the U.S. in the I30 facade?

Yes indeed, here are a couple perfect examples...
This is one about a guy who got an I30 for a rental while his 5 series was being serviced...further down another guy is going off on the Acuras.

there was one I can't find that the guy rags on how cheap the 3-series are too. Incredible.

For kicks, here's a VW driver trying to start ish w/ them.

Yes... a manual transmission, so peasant-like. If those 5 speed drivers are so into the driving experience, they should get manual steering and brakes.

Automagics rule the earth!

To hell with them. I have everything in my GXE except for leather and a inside/outside temp gauge. I wanted the roominess and performance when I bought my car and I must say it rides way better than small Bimmers and small Mercs. I am not even going to get into the Swede-mobiles.

Yeah... I think they should have just just used a HD POWERGLIDE transmission like they did in the good o' days for the Maxima.
