Yeah it has been posted a few times. Few people have tried it. Once I get a Laptop, I will get it and see what I can do with it

i dont think it has anthing to do with consult-II, i was just looking up some web pages that have free software for windows, linux and all u need is one of these OBD to serial cables and a laptop, but u can use a usb-serial converter and an IPOD and put linux on an ipod and get all the same info as that interriator

its NOT OBD, its a Consult interface (Nissan Consult).

You can change values its just with Nissan ECU's they lose changes when you turn car off.. I believe you can just configure what settings you want in the program and just load them when required.. advance timing, a/f ratios

The software it cames with is called Nissan Datascan, few issues with my JDM ecu but working through so not a problem I think, states its compatible with USDM Maximas

I also brought OBD Scan Tech (Nissan) $US20 and it works perfectly.

You can download trial version here, http://obdscantech.cjb.net/

A 486/p2/p3 old laptop will do the job nothing flash required

-
In short all you need is
1. Laptop (or looooooong serial cable )
1a. USB->Serial adapter if you laptop doesn't have serial port
2. Consult cable
3. Software (Nissan Datascan[$20] or Conzult[free] or Calumsult(trial)

My probs all fixed with Nissan Datascan.

Tom got my gauges working.. we set them half to RPM and the other half to Speed.... I could then get readings.. so it looks like by default it shows sensors that the car doesn't have so it doesn't give you anything. You then just keep adding in gauges till you have all the working ones.

Try OBD SCAN TECH NISSAN (Link above) this worked when Datascan didn't

what is the difference between the obd-ii and consult connectors, are they the same but use different or more wires or is there another connector somewhere?

well i never like to put my name behind a product.....but i must say this does work very well. i messed around with minor **** like my idle and looking at my knock sensor pull timing. after 2 mins i got it working once i did a self scan for my ecu since it didnt get it on its own. for those of us that have 96-99 ecus and wat to read and i guess alter our cars settings this is great to have. i have used the plms software on my bros 95 and i have used normal obd2 programs but i think this is better in my case. all i need is to learn what a degree change in the timing does along with what messing with the rom does. i wish it saved the info u uploaded to the ecu after its turned off, but ill look at it.

thanks alot killer for this. i wish u would have shown up wit thi before i bought the other program.

If you mean can you download the ROM ecu , then yes you can. So we could compare JWT vs TS etc

Glad it worked for you to!! Was so glad that it worked when I tried as the Datascan that came with the cable wasn't working at all (is now).

So we have confirmation it works on a 1996?

My brother has that and it would not work on my 96 I30, couldn't detect the ECU. But I have seen the program work on his 89 S13 and it is pretty sweet

Have the PLMS cable. Have tried conzult and Nissan tech scan and none work. Can't get them to synch up with my ECU. The free version of consult has no "ECU scan" function so I don't know how it is supposed to even know what ECU it is trying to read. The Nissan tech scan is very confusing and there is no instructions.....got it to determine some engine initialization but could not go on from there.

Help?

To clarify, with the OBD Tech Scan program we got it to use the "ECU Finder" and it found 2 different ECU code things... FF FF E7 and FF FF ED. Then we click step 2 which is "auto scan" and it says:

Transmit: FF FF E7
Recieved: FF FF E7
Register: Failed

And we can't get any further than that. We used "Register Finder" and got no results from that. It scanned through a bunch of stuff but didn't give us any indication that any of the registers worked.
