Sparco Hood Springs

I got my VIS CF hood and was considering these Spring Hood Fasteners.
Ive searched with Google for any cars that has it installed to no avail. Anyone know how they go on?

Thanks

I'm hoping that these might not require drilling through the hood and I do not want to drill holes.

interesting, I'm not looking forward to drilling holes in my hood, maybe someone has these or knows how they work. Where'd you find these at?

Give Sparco USA a call. Their tech and sales guys are pretty helpful.

yeah i gave them a call the other day. They said it was more for trunks and that it is meant to mount on the outside. Guess we gotta drill holes in our hoods. Cmoore is your hood latch too far up, and is that how they all are? does it latch at all? you should be able to adjust the latch on the car so it latchs easier.

I just put on my VIS hood.

The latch for the hood is too short for the buckle to click in. you have to loosen the latch on the bottom in front of the radiator and pull it up just a little bit. It will click on with this done.

I still dont have hood pins and it seems like its strong enough to do with out it. But I am still going to put pins just in case.

Please do. I've seen too many horror stories from people not putting them on.
it's cheap insurance against replacing the hood, roof, and windshield.

I was nervous drilling my hood aslo, but all came out fine. I like the classic latch style.

I believe drilling is un avoidable when using pins, you'll need some external way of being able to unlock/unlatch the hood.

yeah i think im just going to go with some cheap classic hood pins also for now. I adjusted my latch so it latches with a little force and stays down i just don't want the buckle on the hood to crack and break off. I don't understand why VIS couldnt reinforce the buckles with steel so there was no way of them breaking. I mean it's not like it would add that much weigh.

I agree. I dont have a viz hood, but the latch is weak and not even strong enough to latch. I'm using pins alone, and all though there held down tight, I wish I had the hood latch also.

Hood pins are classic, I wish I had the circular type but I'm happy with my pins, just wish I had them in black to blend in better.

i hate hood pins, well most of them. i acctually used expanding foam to stiffen the hood. i filled the frame work with it. the hood is pretty solid now. im using the stock latch and thats it. i do want to rig up some type of hood strut, similar to stock. maybe a safty chain to hold the hood down when its closed.

my latch is to far down and will not engage all the way. at some point i will try to raise the latch, but it will involve taking off the bumper to drill out the bolt holes since i already tried to loosen it and raise it by hand. only problem is i have one bolt on my bumper that won't come off. it looks rusted. hopefully wd-40 will do the trick or some penaterating oil.

I had the same problem, what you need to do is just loosen all the bolts thats on the latch and pull it up as far as it can go (about 1/8 inch), then tighten the bolts. After this the latch will hook on.

well i have been driving about 70 mph with just a hood latch and have been fine. i dont think i'll ever be able to drive normal until i get hood pins though. i hate them but man it will make me feel so much better about driving over 40. debating right now whether i want to drive my car out tonight about 50 miles. hmmm i think im gonna risk it. might pack some jbweld in the hood buckle to possibly prevent it from breaking.

I am in the same boat with you , no hood pins just the hood latch.

Life on the edge, huh?
