Ahhhh I see... yeah people still do that, and that happened to my friend before. People are cowards when they'll do just about anything to get the $$$$ from other people even when it was their fault..

I got rear ended a few weeks ago and my car has been totaled, the woman who hit me was great and admitted fault, i got my check from her insurance for the deductable but now am going through pains trying to get money from my insurance company for a new car- they don't want to give me enough to actually purchase a new car that was comparable to mine..5speed, fully loaded 97 SE in the pacific northwest- and i have been having MUCH difficulty finding one...you are lucky that your's wasn't totaled and all you have to deal with is repairs. my car was in perfect repair, had just received a new clutch and alternator and was good to go for many more miles now i am left attempting to find a car that has been well maintained and loved...it blows

so wait, she admitted fault and her insur. only paid your deductible?!?!?!? WTF? she should have paid for everything no quesitons asked.
how much was it valued? I'd look for a similiar replacement while looking at newer ones as well.

she paid deductable and will pay the insurance company back everything after it is settled (i am going through my insurance first instead of waiting for hers)
i am looking for similar replacement and looking at newer ones- unfortunately my insurance company is ****ing around and telling me that the ones i found (a GLE that had comprable miles, a year newer along with several others) are not the same because they are different editions, even after telling her 35 times that they are pretty much the same and explaining the difference...they will not even think about budging on the price...they valued it at $7800...while i am unable to find any that are comparable for that price (all are above $9000)- but even though I told her this, gave her names of the people i spoke with ect- she says that she has to "take all of the pricing into consideration" ...i am at my wits end with this

As far as your insurance co. is concerned, they are making payment to you. That's not good for them, and when you apply for new insurance, you have to mention this incident. Whether your insurance co. actually tries to recoup from the other party or not is moot as far as you're concerned, and it doesn't change the above. As you can see from your experience with the $7800, your insurance co. is not on your side. Don't take it personally though, they are never on the insureds' side. That's just tv commercials making the insurance man look like the good guy, when in reality their job is to deny and minimalize claims.

Thank goodness noone was hurt.
The roads have become sooo aggressive I am not surprised she says that. I think people need to chill on the roads. I am sure also that it will get straightened out in time although it sucks to go through it.

When Stuff like this happens, I have a new philosophy for these people - "People Suck".

My kids learnedto drive a couple years ago. I was afraid for them. I never learned to drive with so many maniacs around.

Good luck with the claim.

Well I just got my car back today and it looks great....

I will post pics tomorrow, they replaced the front drivers fender, repainted my front bumper, my hood and my drivers door.

I really happy because I got some "blemishes" taken out for free

Could have been a lot worse. You shouldn't have any problems. The police report might as well be the word of God in court and to the insurance companies.

Yeah it is all taken care of, her insurance took care of it all

I have no idea what they will do about her... probably nothing...

I have been meaning to post pics of the repair, however it has been raining here since the day I get her back. I think it should be clear here tomorrow, so I will try and post pics.

I think if the body parts were replaced, you have the best chance of the work not being as noticeable, because it's not the paint that doesn't match, it's the texture of the surface when they use bondo. Probably there are blend marks on the hood and door.

A dude in my office has a brand-new Honda Pilot, and some uninsured "gentleman" crashed into it while it was parked. I'm not a native Pennsylvanian, thank goodness, but I was told the guy has 24 hours to prove that he was insured? WTF does that mean? He can go and get insurance now that he crashed into someone? Anyone, the dude in the office knows that vehicle will never be the same. Unfortunate, and bad luck, when it happens to a brand-new vehicle. It's toasted for the next 10 years. I guess in such a case people are glad if they lease.

i had some **** like that happen to me a few years ago. i was turning left on a road when this lady cuts across 4 lanes of traffic swipes my jeep and drives away. im backing up in the middle of traffic to chase her down, when she gets out all mad she hit me......40 minutes later shes cussin me out for hitting her. it was obvious i had the right away as i was traffic on the 4 lane highway, but yet she blames me, i had the run around for 2 months before it got fixed. i now know how to handle these types of situations. they are a pain in the ass to deal with

glad youre happy with it.

someone backed into me and he promptly admitted it was his fault. i got his number and just went on my way. when i got my pops to call them (i dont deal with this stupid crap...i just let my pops take care of it) and he said i hit him, and that i should pay for his jeep. and of course i didnt call the cops for a statement because he admitted fault. it ended up being worked out...after the cops were called...we all met at the scene and 're enacted' the collission, and the cop was like...yeah homeboy it was your fault....you backed out of a parking spot and you hit him.

parking lot incidents are a bigger PITA because a lot of the time the police refuse to come out to take an accident report since it happened on private property. i watched a friend of mine get screwed over in a case like that because there was no accident report and the other guy claimed that my friend hit him when it was the other way around. the insurance companies settled it as 50/50 fault which is still total BS because of course his rates went up afterwards

lesson here is to always take pictures no matter what

I don't know if my car getting damaged will make you feel better, but I'll tell you what happened to me tonight.

I park my car in front of the highschool with all my friends in a pretty open space. My car was all alone except for my managers Max. I hadn't been there 10 minutes when 2 Kentucky 'dang ole' *****es decide to side-swipe my mirror. I used some 3m tape for tonight, but the motor won't work. Made me happy.

Talking about old people driving... There was an incident here in Ontario two-three weeks ago, where an old lady hit a bicycle rider, rider fell under the under the car and got dragged for half a mile without granny even knowing it... It was the pedestrians that have seen this and pulled her over...
One, she did not even see the bike on the road
Two, did not even know she hit anything
Three, did not know she was dragging anything (or anyone) under the car

Enough said... No wonder this one thinks you hit her... I say keep us safe - get the old folks away from the wheel...

It looks like we have all had similar experiences. Dog eat dog world. When it comes to accidents, protect yourself ,family, and friends. Don't assume anything from what the other party says or implies.

Here are some picutures i took at the site of an accident in Phoenix a few months ago. A 69 year old man got out of his car in the middle of traffic on a 5 lane freeway becuase he was 'confused', causing a massive wreck that killed 3 people. i was stuck in traffic for about 3 hours and there is still a hole in the pavement from the fire that ensued

if you look close at the first two pictures you can see the fire raging just below the freeway sign. one of the cars was hit so hard that it flew up and hit the pole on which that sign is mounted, which must be at least 25 feet off the ground

btw i don't think the man was ever charged

Wow! Now I'm glad almost all the roads around here are only 2 lanes with low speed limits...that's a pretty horrific accident.

Being defensive is the only way to drive. I find it insulting when someone cuts me off and looks at me like I did something wrong.

Some people just seem like they are the only one around and/or they are more important and the rules do not apply to them.
