Raced a '92 Integra and lost on prom night!!!!!

On Friday, my friend and I went to my high school prom so we rented a white Pontiac Grand prix GTP (it was my friends choice).
The banquet hall was 1 hour up north from Toronto so we took the highway. When we exited off the highway, we pulled up beside this red '92 Interga which was lowered, exhaust, momo arrows and tints. My friend was driving but he doesn't know much about racing so I told him to rev the engine and stare the guy down.

When the light turned green, the guy in the Integra took off and my friend was taking it easy because he didn't know if the guy was racing us. At take off, we knew he was driving a stick but it didn't sound like he had any engine mods except for an exhaust. At around 100 km/h the Intergra started pulling away so I told my friend to floor the GP.

At this point, my friend and I looked at the speedometer and it says 170 km/h on a very small two lane country side road and we're still excellerating! I look to my left and the Integra is still side by side with us. I'm like WTF so I told my friend to go any faster but the Integra began to pull ahead by 2 car lengths.

From now on I have a new found respect for these Honda's and don't underestimate what they can do.

BTW, my other friend ended up renting an E320 and after prom we were doing burnouts and donuts in it. I wish the maxima came in rear wheel drive

May have been a GSR. The are pretty quick and they even made them in 1992. Otherwise he had to have some serious mods. The GTP should've smoked him.

That's what I thought even thought the GTP was an automatic, it still should have killed it.

Man, I wouldn't dare try that sh*t on prom night... I guess I was too occupied elsewhere.

Seriously, what did the girl you were with think about all this? I know I was waaaay too focused on my girlfriend to even think about the Kia (or whatever) that just beat me off the line.

oh yes baby, especially on those B18B blocks, that 9:1 compression is perfect for boosting or a big nitrous setup.

Actually, my friend and I didn't have a date to prom so we decided to drive together. A couple of days before prom, my friend called his insurance company and asked if he was insured to rent a car and they said yes.

_DRU_, that's a very good question. My friend who loves Pontiac's (or all GM cars in general) was the one that got to choose the car. He already drives a Grand Prix SE so he wanted to see what its like to drive a GTP.

I was telling him that we should rent an S2000 or something German but since he was paying for most of the rental expense he had first choice.

Pancor, my prom was actually in Aurora and with the rush hour traffic, it was a 1 hour drive.

BTW Pancor, do you live in Toronto and what year maxima do you drive?

Nathan, actually I'm up North about 2 hours away from Toronto up the 400 in a small town named Penetanguishene. About 45 minutes North of Barrie (less time if me and the Max are feeling aggressive...) I was in TO a couple fridays ago before the long weekend. Let me tell you, my 5 hour drive home was not that much fun...

BTW, I've got a '98 GXE. None of the ricers up here have any real *****, so they all know how to spell "Maxima" quite well now.

Since you live somewhat close to T.O. why don't you check out my website to the left. I run a Maxima club in Toronto and I organize Maxima meets once in a while with my members.

BTW, what mods do you have on your '98?

I've only got an intake. I'm not really much of a modder at this point, as I just don't quite have the spare cash.

I'm a sad, sad man!

/me bows head down in shame and quietly walks away.

The banquet hall was located at Industrial Pkwy and Yonge street. It was directly across a tennis/golf country club called Timberlane that I happen to play at. I live in Markham and go to Milliken Mills High school.

Actually, my friend and I reached the banquet hall really early as did our other friends who rented the E320. My two friends ended up having a competition in the back parking lot to see who can get the longest burnout. Of course the E320 had the longest burnout since its rear wheel drive.

After prom, on the way down to the after party, we stopped off at the famous Woodbine and 16th to show the Honda boys what a real car was. My friend with the E320 did a few donuts, neutral drops and tried out the ABS system. The best part was to see the look on the Honda guys faces. Can you imagine like 9 guys coming in an E320, Grand Prix GTP, and a modified 1.6 EL in suits doing burnouts!!
