Don't bypass your AC compressor as it may not work next time you want to use it. Defog on the front runs the AC during winter even though it blows hot air just to keep the bearings, seals lubricated as they will seaze if you don't run AC for a long time. Yes, it consumes some HP when it runs but at least it won't cost you an arm and a leg to fix later...

It's not just to keep the AC working—the compressor really just removes moisture from the air (which makes it feel cooler) and that's what you want to prevent fogging/frosting of windows. So the compressor does have a real function in the winter too.

What do you mean, illegal?

I don't see how it would be any more so than for an auto.

Perhaps because the car has a chance of moving on its own...

Leave your car in first gear and find out.

I just placed some Contiential ContiExtremes on the car, and i am considering investing in something that i can use so my car can start better below the freezing point.

Oil or a coolant line heater? A hairdryer perhaps? I dunno.

Wash
Two more layers of Zaino
Swap wheels/tires to 15" steelies w/ Yokohama Avid Touring All Season ruber
Put snowbrush, ice scraper and emergency jacket/blankets in the trunk
I may add a shovel this year

Midwest winter is supposed to be pretty bad this year.

Usually, on the first weekend in December, I'll throw on steelies w/ Michelin Arctic Ice tires on, store away the 18's till spring, put in trunk extra winter coat, blanket, snow brush/ice scrapper, extra windshield washer, and a snow shovel and hope I will never have to use them

My car will be immobile this winter. I need to buy something else because pretty soon it will be in undriveable form.
