E85 in the Max?

I don't know much about the fuel requrirements of the maxima; only that I use premium. Can we use E85 fuel in our maximas? Are there any modifications that need to be done?

E85 is ethonal fuel made from corn, mixed with a splash of gasoline. There is an article on it on the NYtimes in the business section. I don't know if the 85 stands for the octane level or not.

" E85 has 27% less energy than gasoline because ethanol contains less energy than gasoline. With the lower energy content, it requires more ethanol fuel to provide the same power as gasoline. Consequently, ethanol cars like FFVs need a larger fuel tank so it only has to refuel as often as a regular gasoline powered vehicle. Since ethanol is an oxygenated fuel, the air to fuel ratio is lower than gasoline. The oxygen also helps the combustion process and reduces the emission of carbon monoxide."

Stoichiometric air/fuel:
Ethanol 9:1
Gasoline 14.7:1

I suppose this means E85 has an a/f of 9.855:1

Either way, it offers no real advantage from a cost standpoint. It may be cheaper at the pump but you still have to buy more of it to travel the same distance.
