I think I made up my mind and I am just going to get a 2001 max, screw the Altima, I love Maximas. Anyways I droped by my local friendly Nissan Dealer and asked how much they would give me for my I30 and how much a 2001 GXE MAX{base model} with a 5spd would cost. Heres the quote I got after talking for only a few minutes, The salesman said he could order a Brand new max for $20,300 delivered and he would give me about $16,000 for my I30. What do you think about the price? I think 16K for my car as a trade in is a real good deal but I checked out edmunds TMV on the 2k1 Max and it sais it is $19600. I told the dealer about the $19600 price and he laughed and said the car would cost him $19400 to order, he said real confident about this too, hmm? What I may do is wait for some cash back savings in Augoust but I am not sure if he will be able to order me a car at that time? If I do wait until Augoust I will probably get a 2K1 SE with just a Bose stereo. Well what do you fellas thing about all this? BTW keeping my car is out of the question becuase I am scared to drive it because it has a new problem every few days.

sounds a little high for a base Max. I heard on the radio some dealer in Nj is selling them for 18000, Look around maybe you can do better then that price. But the question is do you really want a stock maxima. From what I see you post on here, you want more comfort and not so much speed. You caould always wait to see if you like the new Altima or if the new 02 Maxima will look good to you. But hey if you sell your car for 16 , that means you only have 4 grand in the hole which is not that bad. And if worse comes to worse , you can always trade it in for a 02 max or maybe a Altima.

I would wait for a while but I really want to get my I30 off my cheast, it's driving me crazy, I don't ever want to screw with a car again, maybe I will lower my new max and put a body kit on it, but thats it! Reliabality is my only real concern right now, but at what price? I will do some hunting around to see if theres any brand new $18,000 Maximas near me. BTW whould you happen to have any info on the NJ dealership you heard that dreat price? It may be worth a look{I live in R.I.}. Thanks

Are you selling your Infiniti with the Mods/SC? Don't be scared to mod, just don't get to crazy doing it if its your daily driver.

I've added some nice touches to mine, and don't think they will cause problems. I did a lot to my 96 at 65 plus K. No problems at all, to this day. Maybe is all just your SC?

What problems are you having, if you would like to share? Also, dealers always say that. Just ask him if he is saying that you should find another dealer that WILL sell for 19600, and don't be afraid to walk. 9 times out or 10, they will call you back, or you'll find a better deal anyhow.

The heavy advertisers in NJ are usually Autoland (I hate them) and Nissan World (2 lots, Union and Denville).

I usually check carsdirect.com for prices. they come up with invoice, msrp, and there price.

My car is just funny? It acts up, it's hard to explain it is just very uncomfertable driving it. It's the little things the naw away at you after time. BTW I modded the hell out of my 95 Max and it treated me and still does treat me great.

carsdirect has it for $19,620.

I bet the salesman left out the dealer holdback which is:
2% + 1% of the Total Invoice (holdback + floorplanning allowance) which is almost $600 in their pocket.

Do a new car request on autovantage.com and carsdirect.com, sites like that. See what kind of price you can get. There is always someone willing to go a bit lower. You should just drive your 95 around for now, and trade the I30 in on a 2002.....

Well, if I was in your situation, insteading of putting the '95 Max up for sale this weekend, I'd put the I30 up for sale instead. Then, I'd drive the '95 Max for a while and save up some cash, and I'd buy a fully loaded 2002 SE 5-speed when I get the funds.

Just a thought...

I got a little better price today.

I went to another not so friendly nissan dealership and they said they could order a 2K1 GXE 5 spd for $20,000, and they said they could probably give me 16K for my I30. I still did not bite but it shure is tempting. Once I return my car to stock I think I will get a new max. I want a killer deal though!

Ethan, I remember you were so excited when you got that I-30. But I guess things change and you got tired of it. Sad though, I really liked that car.

I think I will be waiting until the 4th of July then . Only another month and 5 days. I will have plenty of time to make my car look and drive normal by then.

>>I think the drop will be soon after the car is announced. Because an Integra LS is selling for around $16k when its MSRP is close to $20k. The new gen Integra(RSX)was announced earlier this year and will come out sometime this summer.

found the $18,000 maximas in NJ. They are at Route 22 Nissan, in Hillside. Ad price is 17,995 for a barebones GXE auto. The add was in yesterdays Star Ledger. That includes a $750 recent college grad rebate (within the last 12 months).
