If you're running anything that has a tendency to make your ECM add in more fuel (ie. headers) then you'd want to pick up either one (SAFC or VAFC) to lean it up a bit to get the most power out of the modifications. Right now my 3.5 is in the high-11's to low-12's across the entire board which is way too rich. I would probably be able open up 10-15WHP by leaning the fuel out.

With nitrous, you want to ADD in more fuel for detonation insurance. Especially with dry kits. With wet, you typically run a little bit leaner, but nothing to worry about. But for the automatic, I had just added in 1% fuel correction under 3.5k and 2% over 4k to just make sure I wasn't going to lean out far enough to cause detonation during nitrous.

If you're stock, or just have an intake and/or a cat-back, it isn't really worth getting it since your A/F will still be pretty close to stock.

And who the hell needs the VIAS butterfly valve? I removed that and gained some good power up-top. I guess it's a 3.5 thing.

pretty close to stock= 5.0 mustang with h pipes, better rear end, weight reduction, nitrous and drag radials. thats the definition i always get.

Anyone check out the APEXi AFC NEO? I saw it up on their site and it seems like they're saying it can do everything both SAFC II and VAFC does? any merit to this?

Damnit, i wish they just made a harness for our cars. . .I'd really hate soldering all that crap in and frying my ECU...

NEO seems to be the hot topic re: Apex'i piggybacks. No one has tried it yet, but I'd say coupled with a wb, it/tehy would be a good investment.

Explain to me as to why a harness would be better?

There are only a handful of wires to tap in the case of these AFC's. A harness would be almost a waste of time/effort.

I went into it w/ absolutely no soldering/ECU/wiring experience whatsoever. Armed w/ a soldering iron, solder, an FSM, and some extra wire. In the end myself and my ECU both came out alive.

mostly because I'm interested in plug n' play, easily reversible, and the fact i have no warranty sometimes makes me a little hesitant to just go at my only car with a wiring diagram off the net and a Solder Iron. i fry it i don't have alternate transportation

EDIT; well, Nothing lost, nothing gained. I'll nab one in a few paychecks and maybe luck out and be the only 5.5genner to play with one.

What's 'wiring diagram off the net'? FSM should not be considered that, nor the instructions from Apex'i.
