The only crap that I don't get is that damn solid rear axle, or beam. The 3rd gen suspension system was much better IMO.
ahhh Ignorance

Have you ever worked on a 3rd gen? Driven long enough to become accustomed to a 3rd gen? The build quality is completely different between the two. Looks are subjective, however in pretty much every poll that people have done 3rd gens always seem to edge out the other gens.

Lightest, meh if you put an aluminum block engine in a 3rd gen you would shave some weight, also the VE's timing chains are waaaay overbuilt when compared to the VQ's. You can swap a VQ35 into a 3rd gen, but it's just not worth the effort. To say 4th gens are faster than the rest is straight up laughable, SR20DEN has the NA record.

That's the right attitude--when you can keep your car indefinitely, all the resale blah blah blah arguments become moot. I think 8 years is a major hurdle, once you clear it your losses by changing are minimized.

According to cnn (they predicted $5 gas and 48% increase in natural gas prices too) the G35 Coupe is in the top 10 for resale. Make sure if you go G35 it's because it's what you want. I thought it would be great being RWD, but when I drove it, even with sport suspension (2k6 sedan) it was handling-challenged. I feel that when you're in that price range, the dealership should be able to arrange a head-to-head test drive with a competitor's vehicle (Lexus/Acura/Audi/BMW) so you can get a real feel for how each car drives. my .02......

I think a VG will run just as long as a VQ will. The only reason why most VG's go is because they have timing belts and once that happens its a goner. They are built as strong as the VQ IMO. I have a VG with almost 200k miles on it and still going. She starts up on a dime and purrs like a kitten and mine is 17 years old.

i agree with mr gone a lot. and saying the 4th gen owns all others is a joke. 4th gens had hubcaps, there is the simplest way to know nissan cut some major corners. not to mention they stopped calling it a 4dsc in 94, hmmm.

but if you dont like 3rd gens, thats you, oh well. but i love mine.

How high is that governor setting? I ran my 95 SE, 5-speed, at least 1/2" off the end in May 1997 and was going in excess of 145 mph. I'd like to see a 6th Gen beat that!

not to get offensive or anything bro, but its true. i mean i love my car too and i think its great, but thats the truth. Nissan was going bankrupt when they made the 4th gens
why you think we dont have the VI, a stronger tranny, all the rubber gromet under the car, the minivan suspension, and i could go on. It is true though I remember when ANT96GLE posted the article a year back or so[even though i havent joined in since 04 i still viewed the forums]

I'm also telling the truth and would never do it again. Road & Track said back in 1994 that a 95SE, 5-speed, was capable of 143 mph and I can attest to that as I did it in the middle of nowhere in the Interior of BC on a divided highway with not a car in sight.

It's called the Coquihalla Highway and there are sections of it without a home/cabin around for miles. A Ferrari could probably top out on that road.

I remember seeing a posting on the .org about 6 to 12 months ago about the European equivalent of a 4th Gen Maxima in Norway. It was a taxi cab with over 1,000,000 kilometres on the clock. It could have been miles referenced but I can't remember.

It's scary with aftermarket suspension too. Just doesn't feel that stable.

no one knows for sure yet. supposedly it is set at 145 (if there is one). but AndyMax95 got his to 151, so he says. I know that 120 feels solid and comparable to how 70 feels in most cars.
btw, speedo goes to 160.

what's the point in setting one at 145?

either do 100mph like Ford or just don't do it at all.

With the 20's it read 151 and that could be to a larger radius, but recently with the stock 18's she was giving out at about 147mph, but damn, thats still pretty quick. I know my 4th gen would struggle at 130

And Nismo is right 120 feels solid, solid enough for me to take my hands off and take a pic of the speedo:

Where can you go to drive that fast?

I wish my speedo went up to 160 so I would have known how fast I was going on my one and only high-speed run referenced above.

Don't Maxima's still come with RS-A? Who wants to do over 130 on a tire like that? 151 ha......guess that makes Maxima the king of the hill. That will leave sport packaged BMW's behind (though they'll still be fine in the twisties)

There's so much testosterone on this forum, can you imagine what the driving stories would be like with a car that handled well?

You do not want to take your 4th gen to the dealer for a trade in. They'll upset you with the price that they'll offer. Trust me. Do you have a younger sibling who you can give/sell your current 4th to? That's what I did when I found out that my 4th gen was worth only few grand. I decided to pass the car down the family line. But in the end, it's upto you.

Yes, because during a 140mph collision seatbelts make a big difference.

Instead of just dissapearing, they will be able to find bits and pieces of you.

I was involved in a 100+ MPH impact with myself and 3 passengers. All of us were wearing seatbelts.

ALL 4 of us were able to walk away from the car without any cuts or broken bones. Just some seatbelt rashes, and the guy in my rear passenger side seat had the wind knocked out of him.

There is a girl in my English class at school. Same exact thing happened to her. Only one girl in the car was wearing the seat belt and suffered a broken arm. The other 3 who were not wearing seatbelts were ejected from the car. One is permanently paralyzed, the girl who told me this story was the driver and was in a coma for 6 weeks, has some permanent brain damage, had to learn basic bodily functions all over again and had many broken bones. The 3rd girl was slightly better off but still wasn't good.

Not only is wearing seatbelts the law now, it is beyond stupid not to wear one. Then again it is your life.

Just another thing you can't base on individual experiences.

Is wearing a seatbelt smart? Yes.

But a couple years of working in an emergency room will show you people can die with their seatbelt on <50mph. Not too mention the majority of accidents occuring at speads >70mph will end in at least 1 fatality.

The point I was making is at 140mph the lack of a seatbelt isn't his biggest issue..
