This are the rotors I've been waiting for. The only problem is, I'm about to drop some serious money on a VQ35 and 5spd, so after that is said and done, this is going to be one of the first things I purchase.

When I got the BBK from matt originally, I hated the fact of how heavy the 6th gen rotors are. This should get me back to near stock weight. I am definitely interested in these rotors, but won't be able to purchase till around christmastime. I hope the interest won't die on these, because this is something every person with matt's BBK should get. It's definitely worth it.

oh don't worry, they'll still be here around Christmas. I had to have 25 sets of hats machined to make it worth my while.

just a teaser....

(that's on a 6 gen, btw)

using stock 6 gen calipers...

http://blehmco.com/imagens/brakes/2p...s/100_1139.jpg

You can see how much of the stock 6 gen pad you have to trim here... (that's about 1/4") obviously not enough to worry about.

Installed on a 6 gen (on 19s):
http://blehmco.com/imagens/brakes/2p...s/100_1135.jpg
http://blehmco.com/imagens/brakes/2p...s/100_1134.jpg
http://blehmco.com/imagens/brakes/2p...s/100_1133.jpg

none installed on a 2k3, but you can get the jist of it from the ones above. replace big ugly 6th gen with a not-quote-as-ugly 5.5 gen and you have the same brakes on a 2k3.

i think this is a noob question, but what are we referring to when we mention "hats"...

lemme try to get this straight (from an uneducated brake person)... a BBK with 6g rotors and z32 calipers require a 1) relocation bracket, 2) SS lines, 3) upgraded hardware

btw, on a 5th gen with SSR comp wheels.

The "Hat" is the black aluminum part in the picture above. a 2 piece rotor consists of the hat portion and the disc. the disc is just the section that the brake pads contact (and a little more to mount the disc to the hat). The hat, again, is the center piece that attaches the disc to the wheel hub. It's made from aluminum to save weight and to help combat heat transfer into the wheel hub and bearing area. (differing metals will have difficulty transferring heat through them. so it's harder to go from steel-aluminum-steel than it is from steel-steel.)

As for the BBK parts, yes. you will need the relocation bracket, custom brake lines of some sort (all mine are stainless), and the mounting hardware.
mounting hardware is simply the nuts and bolts to attach everything together. the bolts are longer than the factory stuff, and since they're fine-thread metric, they're fairly hard to find and expensive, so I buy them in bulk and include them in the kit for install simplification.

the SSR comps should fit without a problem, but I will post a link to the measurements later. I'm leaving for a car meet (I'm already 1 hr late, and I'm event coordinator! ), but I'll be back late tonight and will answer anything else you need.

would one see a difference on the dyno going from stock 04 rotors to these, i would think u would with all that rotational mass wieght savings. if so any idea how much u could gain?

also would the hats be availible in other colors?

Lam, I emailed you my contact info..

ColdSHO, I can't honestly say whether you will see a difference or not. the benefits are designed for more than just dyno HP gains. thermal stability, fade and warpage resistance, rotor life, lower rotational/unsprung weight, etc.
you may or may not see a difference in the dyno. it would be the same as you changing wheel weights by about 3lb (since the weight on the wheel is farther out).

Hats are anodized black. if I were to be able to sell a bunch more, I could probably offer them in different colors, but it would require enough sales volume to make it worth doing. you could possibly powdercoat these, or take them to a local anodizing shop and have them strip/bleach the black off and re-anodize them, but I don't have the facilities to do it here.

Looks good Matt, now if I haven't sold my TTZ/Blehmco brake kit and went to stock I would DEFF rock these now. I was ALWAYS pissed bout the rotational mass that was added onto the car, and how it greatly affected acceleration. I might just get your brake kit again but with the Z32 rear upgrade also.

We PMed back n forth bout these 2 piece rotors almost a year ago, and I just couldn't wait anymore....

this is a very fine kit, i will upgrade my brakes after winter and i'm highly considering these.

are the brackets for using Z32 and 6g calipers different? i'm planning on using Z32's with 6g 2pc, is this possible as long as it fits the clearance of the wheels??

EDIT: nvm, the site is VERY informative.

matt93se, do you put together the 13" cobra/Z32 brake kit?

Just wanted an update from you matt. Do you have any pictures of these rotors on with the stock 6th gen calipers? I wanted a picture of how much you have to trim from the pads to make these fit. I wanted to put these on my 5th gen with the 6th gen calipers.

Yeah, I took them several months ago and forgot to update.. been freakin busy here!!
you can see the 6th gen calipers mounted in pics 36 through 46 here: http://blehmco.com/imagens/brakes/2pc_rotors/

you can also see the difference in weight if you look at the top few pics. the rest of them are using the Z32 calipers.

I know this is somewhat off topic.
Are 2pc 5.5 gen rotors available?

They would be even lighter, correct?

Only reason I ask is because changing from steel 5th gen to 2pc 6th gen yields no weight savings nor detriments, just simply add braking power.

But to be honest, I don't need that high-powered braking.

Any suggestions?

Not unless you want to invest about $5000 into a one-off custom pair that you'll never make a profit on.

Yay! I'm getting the full blown 3rd gen kit w/ 2pc rotors! Holla!!!!!
Just hope it gets here soon (wink, wink), my current pads are literally just a hair away from metal to metal! Doesn't really matter though, all that stuff's going in the trash.

I've got about 200 pictures of those calipers, before and after coating. I'll be glad to email them to you one at a time.
would you like the number of the powdercoating shop that did them as well?

Matt doesn't actually make rotors. Those are just the fake stickers over the stock ones.

we need a "click to BAN" button.

MidniteMax, I have two sets of slotted discs in stock. I have a serious aversion to crossdrilled rotors for any application- especially for products I sell- so I do not plan to have any discs crossdrilled.

Anyway, here's what the slotted ones look like.. forgive the surface rust on the rotors from my fingerprints.
