Do you slow down over train tracks and bumpy roads?
You're going 45 mph and there's train tracks or bumpy road ahead of you, do you slow down or go with the traffic? Maybe it's just the part of town I drive in but no one seems to care about slowing down over bumpy road. So it feels weird when I slow down and the people behind me pile up to 3 or 4 cars. Although to be honest I've driven almost all makes of automobiles since I work at a dealership and none of the other makes do such a good job of transferring the road surface into the cabin (not that anyone prefers this)...not even the "sports" cars like the corvettes or S2000s we have...

If its a bump that could obviously damage my car, of course I will but otherwise I don't bother. I live on a bumpy dirt road so I'm used to it and the roads in my town are garbage.
I do get really annoyed with people who slow right down for the smallest bumps though...especially when they're driving big SUV's that are built for offroading.

i usually will slow dow when it could damage the car if i didn't. there are some speed bumps on my campus and i would definitely slow down over those. it's not worth goin a few miles an hour fast to get a bent rim and f-ed up front bumper.

**** the traffic, slow down wenever i feel the need, especially on railroad tracks. theres a portion of the railroad track at an intersection on Bird Street...if u hit this going fast enough u'll actually get airborne. me and boy did it in his car for sh*ts and giggles one late late night.(yeh, he doesnt care about his Carolla)

most of the bumps I slow down for everyone else slows down for but their are ways around them, ride the yellow and go between the ruts the trucks leave, most train tracks around me are smooth as the road no slowing down, but I can't stand any SUV or truck that slows down over bumps that don't bother me and to top that I can't stand cars that can corner taking on ramps at 20mph and then their are the ones that have to stop with no oncoming traffic before getting on the highway, it's all driver on that but that can drive you nuts.
I find that my SE Maxima has a similiar ride to my 4Runner

I slow down cuz right now my exels are **** up and the exel boot are broken. I dont want my wheels flying off.
but I slow down cuz some times I cant tell how big is the bump. one time I was doing mayby 35 or 40 and I hit a bump that i thoguht was small. when i hit the bump (I was driving with one hand) my car when to the left and I turn to the right and there was and nother bump if i aint hit the brakes my dads car could of gone in to the river with me in it

everyday on my way to school, i have to pass over the railroad track and EVERYTIME i come to a COMPLETE stop and take 10-15 seconds going over the railroad track, to top it off, i go sideways as well ! i dont care if a cop is behind me or a lamborghini, i will still come to a complete stop regardless of what the other people think. yes i have pissed off a lot of people. one time i was workin my way past the railroad and this stupid SOB got on his horn and never let go of it. me wanting to **** him off even more, i dumped it in neutral and enjoyed sitting on top of the track while he kept honking. boy was it hilarious.
they wont pay for a blown tire, bent rim or blown suspension. will they? exactly, enuf said...

98MikeXimaSE, good point.
Lowered on eibachs and on 18s, I slow down for every bump. Driving in NY is like going through an obstacle course..
The guys behind me can honk all they want, when I finish with the bump, I leave them in the dust anyway lol

You dont let idiots behind you that want to fly on the highway determine your driving habits why would this be any different.
I just don't like to do it for a number of reasons and unless we are talking ambulance or fire trunk/police emergency I could care less about anyones reaction to me driving my car how I want.

Doing most of my driving in the southeast, the railroad crossings are usually maintained by either CSX or Norfolk Southern. If it is a CSX crossing, I slow way down, and am usually glad I did. If it is a Norfolk Southern crossing, I slow down a little, take a close look, and usually am able to cross at normal traffic speed.
If the crossing is maintained by a shortline railroad, or is an industry spur, I come almost to a stop before inching across.
If there is a pothole, I either go around it, or, if the situation does not allow going around it, I slow way down.
If there is debris in the road, I slow down until I can identify it and make a decision as to whether to go over it, dodge it, or wait until I can go around.
Parts (especially tires) for the 6th gen Maxima do not come cheap.

you want me to be serious.....i really dont slow down for speed bumps.......its a first car..when i am done with her...she is going of to the junk yard...if my car was in better shape, then yes i would slow down...but for HUGE gaping pot holes...i do slow down or swerve

Yes. I need to go slow over speed bumps, shopping center entrances, potholes (I try to avoid them), and really anything not flat.
I drove like this even before I got my max, and before I was on a lowered suspension. Just a habit I developed...

when I had my sprint/agx combo I would bottom out, so I would slow down
when I had my D2 coilovers, the ride was so harsh, so I would slow down
now I don't have to slow down but I always go through at a reasonable speed without clenching my teeth.

I always do it if I know something rough is ahead. Just be sure to tap the brake lights early enough to traffic behind knows to slow down enough. I've blown my front coilovers out twice so far - slowing down is the least I can do to help them survive.
