2005 IS300.......................Blast to drive! Almost bought one but RWD
2006 Mitsubishi Evo.....Mitsu is in the $hitter, RS model for 26k most under 30k (except MR)
2006 Subaru Impreza WRX...New Turner Ready model for 24K! Or get fully loaded limited with leather and heated everything for 27k
2006 Subaru Legacy....well im kinda biased when it comes to this one.
I'm not saying I like all these cars or would buy all these cars...but from a car lovers point of view this is what I thought might be in the same area
I traded in my 02 6spd Maxima last Aug. The insurence on the Legacy is $102 cheaper vs. the Maxima.

I love my maxima but dont plan on buying another one. I love the front end of the 5th gen but the rear kills me. The 6th I wont even get started on.
I will keep my max always, it will be all paid off in a month. I'll keep it and make the kid(s) drive it when they come of age, Lucky them they will have a nicely done car to drive. I'll get a new car and love that just as much but will always have a parking spot for the Max.

I owned 3 RX-7's from age 16 to 25, the first two got wrecked, and the last I got rid of....ALL of them had the same motor, I just kept switching bodies. All I really had to do with the rotary was change the oil, it was a great engine, and fun, man it was fun.
I think you misunderstood something, I could pick up a $1000 RX, slap some hoosiers on it and auto-x or do track days to my hearts content. It's faster than a Miata and except for the shifter holds up better too.
I will admit, I know a handful of people that blew up there rotary engines, but most all of them were not careful and never checked the oil.
Why get a brand new car to beat on? That's what I was talking about. I auto-x and do track days with the max, it's not a horrible platform, it's really fun to be out there in my family car. I could more easily justify doing moderate mods to the max, and pick up a RX-7 than I could buy a 25-30k new car OR buy an old M3 and still only have one car.

IMHO all cars are **** it doesnt matter what it is they all have problem. 1 Good reason to own a 4th gen max is the parts are cheap and its a decent platform car for about anyone. Between me and my GF we have 4 4th gens. And fo me if it aint a nissan i aint driving it.

I rather get a skyline. Ah I miss Japan..The thing with older cars is that they could be a pos..As with an Evo I'd rather get that than have a Maxima..If you want to compare interiors look at the 6th gens..It looks like someone went to the 2nd hand store for that..So cheaply made..As for price yeah it is pricey hence why you get the MR..And for warranties, that's with any car..The MR is an awesome car, and you can't compare it to the maxima..Maxima=Family car Evo MR=Rally car..Plus a lot of car companies (ralliart) now offer mods that are under warranty..And also why the hell would you want to mod an evo anyway, that thing is fast as it is...I would prolly just change the bov..

Tranny issues exsisted in 02 and 03 cause Subaru underestimated the strain that would be put on these cars. The 04+ are fine. Heres what I think you should do. Goto your local Subaru dealer. Ask to drive a 2006 WRX 5spd. Limited, Tuner Ready, doesnt matter. I have a feeling not many people on this forum have encounted one, or have felt the difference the tq from the 2.5 has made. Iv driven almost every Maxima, every Gen, every tranny. The 06 WRX, stock for stock will take them all

Seeing how I pulled few cars on an EVO few months back from a 70-140MPH roll on, I don't see how I will have ANY problem doing the same to a LGT. I have never gotten to run a stock STI, but I should have taken this one kids offer to run last summer- he wanted to run for 50 bux- my friend destroyed him in his Catback and ECU flash-ONLY 05 EVO RS, and kid never came back to run me....
Your friends LGT must have had something done to it, because 250HP/250TQ, AWD holding it back from a ROLL and 3400lbs- per Edmunds, is NOT going to take out a 6spd Max from a roll. It doesn't have the power to do it while rolling, take a look at Car & Driver or whatever the Magazine that tested the LGT vs TSX, 5MPH rolling start to 60MPH- LGT was only like .2 sec faster to 60. TSXs are dogs, my 90 Max SE 5spd with 340K miles would tear one up stock vs stock.
As for WRXs being fast, I have not driven a 2.5L Turbo WRX so I can't compare- but I wouldn't wanna be seeing driving one, its butt ugly. Funny thing is I ALMOST got a WRX instead of my Maxima, but the dealership wanted 500 bux down and run my credit before I got to test drive one, and then wait 2 months till I get my own...... I told the dealer I could buy one cash if I desired to do it and I am NOT going to go through all that so I can come out of the test drive unimpressed- as I was years later when I got a chance to drive one that came in on a trade in. I agree beauty is in the eye of the beholder here, and I don't buy the cars for their looks- I buy them for their engines, why I kept my 93 Sentra SE-R for so long, and intend to keep my Max till the body rusts out beyond any repair. Nissan used to build one of THE best engines out there, no one will argue with that statement.

If I really wanted AWD in a 4 door I would buy a used 01 Audi S4, repleace the tranny with a RS4 unit, and run Garrett GT28RS turbos to create a killer sedan. Test drive one back to back with a STi or EVO and you will understand. Friend of mine has a 600WHP 00 S4 that he daily drives- as its his shop demo car. It looks stock from inside out, runs low 11s down the 1/4 and still has full interior and gets 26MPG on the highway.... never leaving him stranded, but then again he and I are both factory trained S4 specialists- and we are not scared of an Audi.

On your home page you claim a 0-60 of 5.6 Sec?! Stock GT does 5.8.....Not really sure what a stage 2 would do haven't hooked it up to a g-tech or anything yet
