[QUOTE=MrGone]keep telling yourself that
I bet it if you don't mod your mustang pretty high, he'd give you more than a good run
so what's your defination?

I think your definition of blow past and my definition of blow past are quite different. Regardless, Maxima's not street monsters. It is like dividing by zero, unpossible!

“Maxima has always had the power and performance that has earned it a reputation as a true 4-door sports car. Now it also looks the part,” said Mark McNabb, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. “The new Maxima is more stylish, refined and evolved then ever – higher performance, roomier and sportier. In essence, a wolf in wolf's clothing.”

I'll take a Nissan Exe. word long before I trust a sticker, cause that sticker hasn't been on a Maxima since 94 (or close to it) and that guy works for Nissan currently

Yeah they are not producing anything that we like, but look at how many cars they sell ? I have yet to see a Ford Fussion on a road other than the dealer cars. Ford can't sell any cars, and GM is in the same boat. Altima sells like hotcakes compared to the Malibu or Impala, same thing goes for Camry- they sell cause people want affordable transportation that is reliable and holds some value after few years still. If you where in charge of the company would you take a chance and build cars which would be cattered to performance freaks ? Or main stream buyers who really do not care bout FWD vs RWD, or how much power the car puts out (look at how many 325s BMW sells, and they are NOT fast by any means). This saying there is really no car in the upper 20s range that offers more value per dollar than Nissan does with their Altima and Maxima- no matter how ugly you think they are.
Sure you can buy a loaded Impala or Taurus for less than a Camry/Accord/Altima, but will it hold its value like any asian car 3 years from now ?
I will always drive Nissan vehicles, old ones at that. As nothing out there now excites me, and I hate domestic brands. I have enough $$$ to buy anything I desire, yet I chose to drive old Infiniti/Nissans.

Subaru is a nice car, but you need to modify it in order to make it pleasure to drive. Stock they lack acceleration of a Maxima (I am not talking redline AWD launches at every stop light), they lack low end power and turbo lag is something I do not wanna put up with. Most people who are looking to buy a car are not going to modiffy it, so driving a Maxima vs a Legacy back to back would make me wanna pick the Max. Its acceleration is plenty strong, and it has power at ANY RPM- you do not need to wait for the turbo to kick in to make any siginificant power. Maxima will pull on a Legacy without any problem from a roll, its engine doesn't need any turbo to extract good power- as it already has plenty of it. At the same time Maxima offers more room, its cheaper to insure and with a decent set of wheel and slight lowering looks just as good as the Legacy. What else can you buy for less than 30K with 4 doors that comes close to it and still offers a manual tranny ?

But I have 2 MAJOR issues with going out and getting one.
1) my max is paid for
2) I would have to pay about the same amount to get a M3 of a similar year (97) for what I paid for my max when I bought it in 99, I just can't justify that for 1 second quicker to 60 and better handling (but not like 1g better handling)
I also used to own a 1st gen RX-7, I COULD justify buying another one of them as a auto-x/track car easier than I could justify the cost of an M3.
PS I have a kid, so money isn't as easy to waste anymore.

2006 Dodge Charger.......No stick, but little over 30k but with the 5.7L 1/4 in 14.1 stock
2005 IS300.......................Blast to drive! Almost bought one but RWD
2006 Mitsubishi Evo.....Mitsu is in the $hitter, RS model for 26k most under 30k (except MR)
2006 Subaru Impreza WRX...New Turner Ready model for 24K! Or get fully loaded limited with leather and heated everything for 27k
2006 Subaru Legacy....well im kinda biased when it comes to this one.
I'm not saying I like all these cars or would buy all these cars...but from a car lovers point of view this is what I thought might be in the same area
I traded in my 02 6spd Maxima last Aug. The insurence on the Legacy is $102 cheaper vs. the Maxima.

fresh would be much better than that and the car can have 100000000 miles on it and i still would think thats fresh i just want a sexy body

I agree with the second part. I don't own a Nissan for a bunch of reason but one really basic and true reason is the quality has gone down the $hiter. Its awful. This company was doing so poorly in the mid 90s but kept quality up. I know Nissan has been doing amazing recently (sales wise) but the quality is starting to fall. A lot. I had a 96 and an 02 Maxima. I noticed a major change in quality. I hope it changes. I'd consider an Infiniti but prob not a Nissan for a while. Whatever value you may or may not hold in mag. write ups, but they all agree. Its a damn shame

And your point is........? Cause my point is that the 6th Gen was refered to as a four door sports car, even if it didnt have a little sticker on the window

My longstanding issue with this dilema is that I agree, a M3 is a much better performance sedan.

Good luck with the rx7 the cost of rebuilding that thing well yeah that can be expensive..I would rather get a brand new car that already has power than spend more rebuilding a piece of poop..
