Should be cut and dry since you have no excess mileage or damage. The only thing you have to deal with is the salespeople trying to get you into another car.

i dunno about access, but excess would probably be noticeable scratches/dents/dings, curb rash, broken headlight/taillight. just guessin on these...

Typically, stuff like paint chips on the fender don't count. It depends on how **** the dealership wants to be. When I worked at a Nissan place, we were pretty easy on the lease inspection as long as there was no outright damage like dents or interior rips and tears. The process should go like this. You walk in and say you want to turn a lease in. The used car manager will go out with you and do a walk-around of the car. Then they will fill out some paperwork and you will sign, turn in all your keys and you're pretty much done. Part of the paperwork you sign will let you know that the bank may send you a bill for damage or excess mileage but with the inspection done, you don't really have anything to worry about.

I just took back my 2002 which was lease-takeover, original guy had it for just over 2 years and me for the rest of the 4 year lease.

There were a couple of real good scrapes on the side and a couple of dents in the roof, plus I raced it for 2 years.

The sales guy came out started the car, did a brake torque, shut it off, did a walk around, opened the trunk, not the hood. He noted that the tires were only fair and thats it. He wrote a number on the window and said it would go directly to auction.

They could have nailed me on so much stuff but didn't. I got my full deposit back a couple of weeks ago and today received a letter saying that the collateral security has now been released whatever that means. Just said no action on my part was required.

Don't sweat it, it won't help, just hope you get a good guy to do the inspection.

We have the lease to own option but nobody is going to pay 8.5K to buy that POS.

I feel sorry for the next owner of it.
