Ok,

First of all I am not-so-pleased with my wood trim kit as it is. Gaps, etc. not very k00l looking in my new i30. Some came out so bad I ripped out dash pieces (actual dash pieces) and replaced them and put new trim pieces on them. Dash kit still looks less than excellent.

Anyway, I'm working with a guy to design a custom faceplate/dash kit for my stereo. I have asked Mike at Joshua Tree wood trim if he can cut a custom piece for me. He said no, which is 100% cool. I then wrote him and asked if I could buy a sheet of the stuff from his supplier -- because I found someone who'll custom cut it for me. He writes back saying "no I can't sell you custom cut pieces or regular uncut sheets."

WTF? I mean, this stuff is surely somewhere available in sheet form. I mean, they don't MAKE IT like that. It's a sheet first, then it is cut for the specific autos.

Can SOMEONE HELP ME FIND A FRIGGIN Sheet of this stuff?

He's not doing a good job of satifying the customer. I'm looking for a better dash kit right now. Even looked into the GLE shift surround and switchplate replacements. Courtesy quoted me $391!

Yes, I am not pleased with my JT kit... looks lame.

Ok cool well let me know if:

1. You find an excellent wood trim kit (maybe I'll have the courage to rip out the old one) OH GOD

2. You find out where I can buy like a 2x2' sheet of the stuff so my guy can custom-cut the stereo piece.

Thanks GUYS

I can't help with the wood trim sheets, but if either of you ever needs aluminum sheets for customer stuff, let me know. I can get a hold of it. And Paul, if I can find a 5th Gen around here, I could probably get my friend's company to prototype it and make an aluminum kit, real aluminum. Right now we only have 4th gen kits. And the price would be quite a bit lower than $391.
