OK, but IIRC 6th Gens use Single caliper pistons. Correct me if I am wrong. You can get 2 re-maned J30 2 piston calipers for 100 bucks from Autozone. That's a cheap BBK for Neal's 4th Gen using 2 piston Calipers. Maybe I am missing something????

6 gen use a pretty BIG single piston. I think Matt's brackets will work. But his brackets are significantly more than mine. Still a good deal if it works which I suspect it would

Price is understandable. My friend Brian said he would give him his 350Z rotors for free, since he put on a StopTech BBK. Autozone sells J30 calipers pretty cheap. Neal could even build his own brackets, but that's IMO a waster of time since Matt already manufacturers them.

Thanks for info.

exactly right, j30 caliper and maxima torque member bolts directly to it.

What's the weight difference between stock 4th gen rotor and caliper and going to the J30 setup with J30 caliper and rotor?

I assume the J30 setup will fit under a 15" wheel if the Max torque member can be used...?

I don't know the weight difference. I'll find out soon though. The J30/Q45 caliper does fit under a 15" wheel with both torque members - Maxima or Q45 - on a 3rd gen. I'd guess that it would fit on a 4th gen too.

I am pretty sure I weighed the 300zx rotor (same as j30 rotor) back in June 2003 when I then decided to pull off the 13" cobra rotors. I think I posted about it back then.

Stock lines can be reused with the J30 calipers.

So for a 3G max...
One sould use '04 Max 12.6" rotors, Matt's 300Z/12.6" kit brackets, 3rd gen max tourque members, and j30/q45 calipers? and have a better selection of wheels?

Or jeff's front brackets, cobra rotors + hub rings, the J/Q caliper, and the 3g max torque member?

I want to get Matt Blehm's 12.6"/300z front bbk, but i'm not sure if it will fit under my 17x7.5" Kosei K1's. 40 or 42mm offset iirc. see sig.^

Or you could save a bunch of random parts and just buy the Z32 BBK and wheels that clear it.
Imagine the one time you loan the car to your friend/dad/sister/whoever while you're out of town and they decide to take it into the shop for a brake job... not that they would usually do such a thing, but I've seen it happen before. had a shop look up my stuff online and call me asking what parts they needed for this car because it came in their shop with my sticker on the window.. some chick was driving her BFs car while he was out of the country and it was squeaking, so she took it to the shop. he pulled a wheel off and was like "WTFuxors! That's not Maxima brakes!!"

you mean your Z32 bbk? will my Kosei's not clear it? Don't get me wrong, i want to run your kit, but i like my kosei's, i just replaced one of them even (bent).

what ever happened to that database of wheels that clear your kit that you were working on?

17x7.5 K1s come in +35 and +45 offset. I needed about 11mm to fit over my 300zx/13" brakes. So you will definately need a spacer.

cute animation.

never mind my last ? to you matt, i went 2 ur site and did the measurement, the wheels sit about 3/16 - 1/4 inch too close. Looks like i'm getting in on that group deal for some spacers. probly 15mm. yer kit is teh sweetness though, still gunna git it. (wow that was typed sooo gheyly)

Hopefully by the end of today, i'll secure a pair of q45 calipers...This is the route i plan to go. (correct me if im wrong, which i probably am...im still confused from reading this thread 10x)

Q45 Calipers
SS Maxima Lines
Maxima TQ members
Maxima brake pads
--------------------

Rotor Options:

(1) Jeff's rings/brackets w/ 13'' Cobras (redrilled to Maxima spec, right?)

- or -

(2) 300zx/J30/Q45 rotors (will these bolt up to the Maxima hub?)

- or -

(3) 6th gen rotors?

If you use the 6th gen rotors, i believe you'll need the brakets from matt's front kit.

ok, so after much deliberation, i've decided to go for the gusto:
I'm going with the Z32 calipers/12.6" 6th gen rotors a.k.a. Matt's kit and get some 15mm spacers. I initially didn't wnat to have to buy spacers, but then i remembered that I always thought that the wheels sat in a bit too much, so spacerz iz good.

But in all honesty, the 12.6" rotor/matt's brackets with J30 or Q45 caliper and stock lines does sound like a very viable option if you are on a budget and/or don't want to fool with spacers or new wheels.

Come to think of it, my buddy's brother just got a DUI, so he wont be driving his J30 much. Maybe once i get my brake kit, i'll "borrow" his calipers and try them out.

So, how thick are the 6th gen rotors? I want 30mm rotors.

j30 calipers for sale?...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Iron, I'm not sure how thick they are, ask Matty(Blehm). If matt designed the kit, then they are pobly thick enough, matt's good like that.

If anyone needs a set of q or j calipers i have 2 sets extra. I am running them on 2 of my cars they work awesome with stock rotors. All you have too do is mill down 2mm from outside diameter just like the z rotors.

Are there any non-4th gen rotors that'll bolt up w/o grinding down?

Rob any idea what the weight difference is between stock calipers and J30's (or the q's)?

I did a bit of searching around but couldn't find any old posts listing weights...

I could try test fitting some 4th gen Saw blades on a Q45 for you guys. I got a 94 Q45 I'm building up and shes going to get some larger brakes in the future also- most likely Z32 brake conversion as everything is pretty much the same.

Anyone make a BBK similar to Jeffs and Blehmco's for Z32 that doesn't cost a newborn for a Z32 ? I don't frequent any Z forums to know that... limited to this and the Q45 forums.

that would be good, to test fit some Q45 calipers under sawblades. This would make getting a BBK much more cost effective if we wouldnt have to get different wheels for clearnace.

Offset of the hubs is a lil bit different on the G50 vs A32/33, but I'm pretty sure that the spokes will clear the caliper. I seen a 4th gen Max with Q45 "PiePan" 15" wheels and it looked very stock. Since G50s came with 15" stock I don't think diameter of the Saw Blade will be a problem. So the only problem I might foresee is the clearance between the spokes and the caliper itself. I'm going to be in Colorado for a week so I won't be able to test out my SawBlades on my Q till when I get back after New Years.

beautiful there are a lot of J30 calipers cheap and some q45 around also.

Once I find out these clear stock 15's, they'll be on the max in no time.

90-96 Q45, or 93-97 J30s. Q45 uses diff rear calipers than the Maxima, it has a internal drum e-brake setup like the Z but the caliper is a large single piston unit vs dual on the Z.

Q45 caliper uses diff pads than the Maxima, they are much larger and have a sensor on them that once the pad wears down to almost nothing - a message on the on-board computer (which is on the instrument cluster) is displayed saying brake pads are worn.
