13" Cobra + Q45 / J30 Caliper upgrade possibility

but other than the unexpected caliper/rim clearance issues the install is strighforward and everything lines up perfectly. The brackets are on point and designed very well
Those should really help out on Saturday Karim.
I didnt realize but this actually would work for the B15 sentra as well since they utilize the same front brakes as the maxima/altima/g20. It gives them an option instead of the Brembo brakes. I think it might help to start a new thread on here for ppl to see instead of trying to read through all the pages. I can have better pics if you want. Just let me know.
are you guys positive that the Q45 calipers and the J30 calipers are the same? the reason I am asking is i purchased a set from a local junkyard. They had both J30's and Q45's i noticed that the Q45 caliper had "Sumitomo" stamped into the casting. While none of the J30 front calipers did. I looked the diffrent J30's and none of them had it. I then looked at the 2 Q45's that were there and they both did. Just an observation i thought i would share. I am probally going to go with Matt's 04 Maxima rotor kit since the whole cobra rotor and needing the rings make me uncomfortable. I have no actually seen the rings can someone share how the work in conjunction with the Cobra rotor?

They work just like a hubcentric ring on a wheel... you put it on the centerbore of the hub so the rotor is centered on the hub.

The reason i ask is. I am trying to decide if matts setup or jeff's setup is safer. the 13inch rotor would look awesome but seems like the 12.6 over time would be less of a hassel since i don't have to worry about the hub rings
Yea its perfectly safe. If you saw the design you can tell that the hub ring is designed to sit on the rotor, then placed on the hub where it sits against the hub. The ring is sandwiched between the two, there is no room for it to snap or crack from what I can tell. Or you can buy the rotors predrilled on the forum and not use the rings.

Also it is subjected to very high heat what material is it made out of? Is it the same as the As the rotor? Do they expand at the same rate? If the ring doesn't expand at the same rate as the rotor their is the potential to snap the right.

I think your confused on where it goes. It would have no impact on braking or be affected by heat.
Rings CENTER the rotor, not support it. They are NOT subject to the brake's forces nor are they subjected the heat. You DO know that some hubcentric rings for wheels are plastic right?

thanks i am going to go with
Matt's Relocation Brackets, Maxima Braided lines, Maxima 12.6 rotor and q45 calipers.
Which incidentally might me the kit my brothers car has He has an 06 M45 and it has 12.6 rotor with 2 pistion calipers. i think it will fill out the 17's i plan on getting alot better than his 19's
Suckie part is i already got the Q45 twin piston calipers. $100 form the junk yard. I would save money with your kit thought since cobra rotors and your brackets are cheaper than matts . I will wait an see. I am going to look for a set of Z32 calipers.

Any chance we can get some more detailed pics. with the wheels off? ALso karim do you know the thickness of the Cobra rotor? 13x?

Jeff's brackets in action.
Sorry, i dunno the thickness of the rotor. I used new bolts, lockwashers, nuts to secure the bracket to the hub and the stock bolts to secure the bracket to the caliper bracket.
Zach. If you already have the Q calipers, then run them. Swapping to 300z calipers later is just a bolt on affair. Provided you have wheel clearance.

Looks fantastic. Very good to know it's all working well.

I dont have access to a digital camera. That's my trouble. The write up isn't hard at all, if you've done a brake job, you can do the conversion. I'm sorry to keep you guys waiting
I'll make a fresh thread w/ some temporary pics and i'll replace them w/ better ones when i get them.

Yeah, I was wondering why you need a how to,
Remove old brake parts.
Install new bracket
Install new rotor
Install new caliper and tq member and pads
Install brake line
Test fit
Bleed lines.
I just want an easy write up for those that don't know about this bbk option using the brackets/rings/J30/Q45 calipers. Really opens up options cost/wheel wise. Plus most don't want to wade though 12 pages of "what ifs".
and also depending on your rim/spoke design, sometimes the front of the caliper has to be ground down...like we did on Karim's install

If you are buying new 17s anyway, you can get some that clear.
