a bit more difficult to answer than you would think, the 2000/2001 Maxima should spank a 4th gen out on the highway, best challenger would be the 1995 Maxima. But the USIM on the 4th gens make accel, up top a miracle to come by. I wouldnt race a Toyota Echo from a 70 mph roll.

When you say 5th gen, if we are talking about the (5.5 Gen) 2002/2003 VQ35DE powered Maxima, I would forget about that (stock vs stock) would be an old fashion tail kicking !

Again, there are to many factors to consider, to say one or the other (minus 5.5 Gen) would dominate the other 100% of the time. At the end of the day it comes down to weight/HP -- driver --- transmission, among others.

i know it has something to do with 5th gen having more hp

of science and such.
