That's gorgeous, does this setup work for 5.5gens? What are the rotors you are running and from where did you acquire them? Looks to be 2 piece. Nice work, that's going to look and perform great on your ride.

are those the 2piece rotors Jeff sells? Looking like a great setup.

I plan on going Z+cobra rotors come summer time, but going to do the J30+Zrotors for now.

Baer Eradispeed+ 2pcs rotors...

When're you going to have them running? My Canadian dist. is backordered I might end up getting 2pcs blanks instead. I'm worried about noise issues with the cross drilling/slots..

these are 2 piece bear rotors mounted with 300zx 30mm alluminum calipers. size of the rotor is 13 inch and they are from a cobra. now to the person that asked will this work on a 5th and 5.5 gen max, yes it will because i am doing it on my max which ahs a front end from a 5.5 gen. the brackets that were sold i got rid of and got some brackets made out of alluminum. the calipers were also milled down in some areas so they sit closer to the center of the caliper so all of the rotor is used. i also will be using the hubcentric rings and ss brake lines. now time to go to work and get these installed.

sweet thanks for answering my question. are you able to endulge me with a package price? i'd like to weigh my options and see what is more feasible. i currently have the wilwood kit awaiting install, but i'm not sure which setup would perform better.

I've seen pics of your brakes...

And i would think it's a bad idea to grind any part of the caliper just to sit more down on the rotor. That would most likely make it weaker.

Those will give you major stopping power. They should work well with your new SSRs.

first of all how can you say that the caliper will be weaker? what do you mean weaker? first of all you dont know what part was grinded down so basically you are making assumtions which are never good.

this setup ran me with 2 piece rotors about $800-850 just because of the rotors costing around $500.

The caliper doesn't really have any unneeded material on it, so whatever you remove is going to make it weaker. And also, there aren't many different places on it that could be milled to make it sit lower. Now the caliper is going to flex more, and spread more, which is never good. The 300zx brakes weren't great to begin with, but quite good for being stock. That's why good calipers cost so much.

Can't complain though, at that price it's feasable to play around with grinding calipers. Only cost like 1/4 of a real BBK! BTW, what wheels are you getting to go around these suckers?

well everything os on but we ran into some problems because my opinion on this kit is that it is not assembled right and it is not a plug and play like they say it is.

there was some stuff that had to be altered but no control arm grinding or the dust shield either. the only regret is that the relocation bracket isnt the proper thickness so when you put the caliper to the rotor, the rotor isnt centered.

sorry if you missunderstood me. the hubcentirc rings are perfect. they center the rotor on the hub. now when you bolt on the bracket to the hub and the caliper to the bracketyou look inside the caliepr itself and the rotor is not centered.. like the rotor is not in the middle of the caliper. this becomes a problem because when i put the caliper on and spun the rotor by hand the rotor was hitting the caliper. now picture driving down the road and your rotor grinding on the inside of the caliper. so shims had to be added to make the rotor sit even and not hit the caliper. this problem could have been avoided if the bracket was the proper thickness.

I see, could we just add washers?

that is what i had to do. but this problem liek i said would exist if the bracekts were the proper thickness. the one thing that bugs me the most is everybody keeps their mouths shut and just post pics of the kit installed but all the work that goes into it making it perfect nobody ever talks about it.
