Window tinting: Front windshield?

And isn't the windshield already supposed to be shatterproof? Not in the sense that it won't crack, but in that your side windows will shatter, where as the windshield (at least that I've seen) seems to stay in one piece, albeit very spiderwebbed and whatnot.

You could get your doctor is make you a note saying that your skin is sensitive to the sun which you can have added to your insurance, allowing you to tint all your windows. Then when you get pulled over, show the cops the statement in your insurance

you are some major retard if you tint your windshield. most places will charge you at least 300$ for it because they know you are a stupid moron (redundant phrase) to tint it.
visibility aside (i don't care what you say, you can't see crap in many weather and road conditions, regardless of %), maintenance is a problem. smudge marks, inperfections etc.
also note that your whole image will be wavy because the glue in the tint is visible under an angle, much more so than in your rear window.

if u dont have it on ur windshield then u have no room to talk. I HAVE a doctors note and a medical card from the DMV stating what percent of tint i can have on my side windows and windshield. Its not that much of a difference compared to having ur windshield untinted. If anything it just takes care of most of the glare on the road and the only thing that appears darker is the sky. with my HID's i have no problems seeing

The main reason for the tints? To reduce the heat, glare and UV coming into the cars. They do put tints on purpose for those reasons, but i don't think it's stupid. (Although there was a small sample saying they just do it for looks <g>).
Don't take me the wrong way, i do respect your opinion. I just wanted to get some facts out there as well.

ever driven on a blacktop in the rain? must never have. i've a light sensitivity issue so i can generally see pretty good in the dark, but initial reactions are misleading. sure, you can see per say, but just how much can you? to me it got worse the longer you stared through it.
also it just causes you to strain. i do a lot of (or used to before the oil companies gave us the probe with the prices) night driving so it is not uncommon to drive for 10 hours at a time. it kills your eyes pretty soon.
out of curiosity, which country is that? has to be somewhere in asia...

i guess there was nothing wrong with my spelling....your posts suck your windshield isnt tinted so you shouldnt ring in your 2 cents because u dont have it done, so u have no experience driving with it on a daily basis
lol that was truly an idiotic statement. maybe the fact that i have high end stereo equipment in my car makes it a neccesity? or the fact that i have a skin condition? or maybe its the fact that i got it just to **** people like you off.

omg as a preventive measure against crime against him. comprehension > you.
this thread is very much on topic. thing is i care because i don't have to wonder if the cool kid can see me pulling out or not. besides the law cares and it says it's illegal. that's enough for most.

now that is offtopic. also don't get me wrong, there are times where windshield tint isn't really an issue. if you drive in the southern states (az, nm etc) during the day it won't matter, but all those people up north with the snow, fog and such are just going for the coolness factor. or if you drive offroad only.. there are no rules there, but i doubt many offroad a maxima...
did some searching and this is what I found

Are the tints used by tint shops able to protect against UVA and UVB? I noticed that UV protection was mentioned as a reason for tinting the windshield. Also, if you are doing the windshield tint for your eyes wouldn't a good pair of sunglasses do a better job? If you're doing it for some other medical condition, what do you do once you are out of the car? Dress up like Michael Jackson?
