How long does it take to resurface rotors?

I'm planning to resurface my front two brembo blanks....how long does it usually take for a technician to resurface two rotors? Also how much should I be paying when I take my rotors in? I have never done this before so I needa know these things....

I got my stockers done in like 30 min and under $100 i would think it would be less than an hour and maybe a little over 100

It was like a year ago i just got new tires and they did it. while putting my tires on. It was at big o. From what i remember it was like 50 bucks. It was like 735 i think with tax and everything (4 tires x 170 + Resurfice rotors +tax @6.6%) I don't really remember it was less than 100 i know that for sure

EDIT: they did all 4. Not just two of them

Why pay 100 dollars to resurface if you can just get new rotors for almost the same price?

I am sorta confused about this "resurface". In High school shop we just turned the rotors and took a mm or so off. Is that the same thing with just a different name?

Yea, resurface == turn.

Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes per, which is the initial cut and going back in case it skipped a place the first time. In my class at school we've had cars up on the lift, both front rotors resurfaced and the car back to being parked outside in just about hour (includes dismounting/remounting wheels, calipers, etc).

Depends on the quality of the brake lathe. It takes us anywhere from 15-30 min a rotor depending on which lathe we're using (one is MUCH better than the other). In my opinion turning rotors is not good though since you are taking away useable mass on the rotor. I buy new rotors everytime and never turn them

You can take them into many auto parts stores and get them turned for about $15/ea and it should take about 15-20 min./ea.

I'm affraid of waiting for like 3hrs too....I'm gonna call ahead and see if hes able to do it on the spot...

is there any harm in not resurfacing the rotor when putting new pads? I mean I only put 3k on these brembo blanks....I just heard its recommended (dunno exactly why)...but at 3k on these rotors, does it really need resurfacing?

btw i'm swapping out my axxis ULT pads cuz these are POS pads! sooo much squealing its driving me nuts...if these axxis deluxe pads squeal....i am through with axxis pads

Try putting an anti-squal compound between the pad and the shim. It completely got rid of my squeal. Just make sure you put on a good heavy coat and let them dry for about 30 minutes before putting them back on.

Steel wool and brake cleaner can clean the rotors, but not as effectively as resurfacing.

I usually clean mine with brake rotor cleaner first, and then anti-squealers.

I hate turning rotors, I just buy new ones. Rotors are cheap enough that turning them is a waste of money in my eyes...

BlackbirdVQ swears by his $20 a pop NAPA (I think its NAPA) rotors. So why waste $75-100 when you could have brand new ones.

If you only have 3k on the rotors I would not re-surface them. Just sand down the surface a bit.

BTW: Hawk HPS pads FTW!!

45 minutes for both (22.5 mins each)
8$/ rotor, less than 20$ for the set(fr or r)

ive always believed if the brake job is done properly it shouldnt squeak. ive put in $15 brake pads with no noise. Ive also heard of people using really nice pads and still squeaking. I wouldnt blame the pad for that. Ive used Axxis Ultimates, Metal master, and Deluxe pads all without any squeaking.

Please explain as I plan to do my next brake change myself, and could use pointers.
