Anyone know of any decent deals on rims ?

I am looking at buying a set of wheels in the next 2 weeks. I am very picky when it comes down to wheels so I have narrowed it down to a few. But I can't seem to find any good deals on 18x8.5 Volk TE37s in Bronze color. Does anyone know where I could score a set of these brand new for a price of less than 2K ?

Man I still haven't found any good deals myself. I tried looking on Craigslist, but they're hard to come by at a great price. I'll keep you posted if I run into some.

I found out by some playing around with other car wheel fitments that the IDEAL fitting wheels for a 5th gen is same as that of an Mitsu Evo. Friend of mine has always buncha EVOs around his house and one day we tried some wheels on my Max to see how it would fit behind my 300ZX/Blehmco brakes and all of the wheels we tried fit great, didn't have any fitment issues with the calipers and where perfectly flush with the body.

Wheelmax doesn't sell any wheels for a EVO. I think I might just order up some SSR Competitions this week if TireRack has them in stock, probably going to stick to 17s as I would like to keep the weight to a minimum.

I thought bout ROTA wheels, but there have been way too many wheels breaking apart stories posted on the Subie forums from what I seen. I want Japanesse made wheels, that will last me a few years.

That's an interesting find. Do you have any pics of your fitments?

No, at the moment we where doing the wheels I never thought bout it. We tried stock EVO wheels, and a set of CE28N. both of them fit like they belong on the Max. I wanna get some wheels within 2 weeks or so, as 4th gen sawblades do NOT look any good on a 5th gen- my winter setup with Blizzaks.

I don't know about the bronze color but tirerack was running out of anthracite 17x7.5" SSRs when I ordered one a few months ago. They aren't produced any longer because SSR has gone into bankruptcy and unless someone bails them out, they are done. They had 3 left in my particular size, color and offset when I ordered a replacement rim, so after me they only had 2 left.

Dang I didnt know they went under, I love SSR wheels due to their strenght and light weight factor. You can deff thank pousers out there for buying knock off wheels that made the REAL deal companies go out of bussiness.

I am thinking of ordering a set of SSR GT2s in GOLD from TireRack, they have em on special and want 339 a piece for them in 18x8.5 with 32mm offset (not 100% on the offset). I am just not sure how it would look on a lowered Maxima.... gold is a bit tacky if you ask me and I really like the way the rims look. They also have em in white, but I do not like white rims- especially on a black car.

For tires I am going with 245-40-18 Falken RT-615s, you can't beat those tires in terms of performance to value equation. I had the older Azenis Sports on my Maxima and they where the best performance tires I have had, puts Poleposition S03s and Dunlop SP8000 or SP9000 to shame for half the price.

What do you guys think of these gold SSRs ?

Will it look alright ? I am puting BBK kit on behind there so in my opinion it should looks pretty sick.

Dang those are BRIGHT gold lol. I dunno, if any color can pull it if it is a black car like yours. I do love the GT2 style though. Worst case scenario you hate them and end up getting them powdercoated another color?

I just purchased some volk gt-7s from someone's friend on the org. A little minor attempts to fix curb rash on one lip, but other than that, they are perfect condition. $1400 for a set, 18x8 with pirelli tires. Although the tires are worn, the deal was still great. I saw them on each site for at least $500 a piece.

I called tirerack back in february about the ssr comps in 18x8.5 but the guy said they would ge them in stock in april. I'm kind of glad I got the volks because no one on the .org has them and they are nearly the same weight as the comps, like a pound or two heavier.

chris- I been looking at Ebay for the last 2 months trying to piece something togheter and I can't seem to find the style Volk or size that I like. I not want anything narrower than 8.0 and nothing wider than 9.0" in the front, since I am going with stiffer rear springs on my JIC this spring, that is going to induce quite a bit of oversteer, so I am going to try neutralizing that with some wider rear rims- 9.0-9.5". Staggered setup always produce more understeer, so with the stiffer rear springs it should even out.

MacAlert- I do like the way those 5Zigens look, but they look heavier than the wheels I want. I tried looking up weights on them but didn't find anything. Even thou they are in my price range- up to 400 dollars a rim with no tires, I do not wanna take a chance on getting them and then hatting em cause of the weight.

MizeereX- I do like the Integrals look, but for some reason I dont see them looking good on my car. Just a bit to plain- IMHO. I don't wanna have wheels that yell out LOOK AT ME, which is quite a bit of a oxymoron as I am looking at Gold GT2s. I know Integrals are light and durrable wheels- they are SSRs, and few friends of mine have them on their cars.

I will see if TireRack has GT2s in Silver still, I might be able to score a good deal on a set, if not I am gonna get the gold ones. I can always get my guy who refinished my Enkei RPO1s for me to do the GT2s in silver or any other color I might want. Anyone with MaD PhotoShop sKiLlz ? I would love to see GT2s on a black Max.

yeah you could always paint the ssr but then i dont know. spend that much on rims and then paint them? comp-c by ssr were the best but they are no longer made. and about the s03 comment, nothing can beat those tires. they are the best even if they tend to be pricey.

What do you think of those?

They aren't bronze, but I think they will look very goon on a 5th gen.

Acutally I have to disagree with you on the S03 comment. Even after speding almost 1200 bux on a set of 245-40-18s bout 3-4 years ago, the tires where noisy and where EZ to break loose from a stop- but regained traction fairly quickly once warmed up. At the same time I had 2 of them shift belts on me and caused nasty vibrations.

My choice for best tire overall would have to be Yoko AVS Intermediates. Yokohama stopped making them like 5 years ago, and alot of Z32 guys still have sets stacked up in their garages for their cars. I had AVS Intermediates on my Max after I sold my wheels with S03s, on a set of black Z32 wheels. Handling was phenomenal, they where really quiet and never squealed. Their sidewalls where fairly stiff, and produced no sidewall flex durring cornering.

I've had Dunlop W10s, Potenza S03s, Turanza EL42s, Potenza RE92s, Yoko ES100s, Yoko AVS Intermediates, SP8000s, SP9000s, Potenza RE040s, Azenis Sport, Nitto 555s, and just sold my Enkeis with Dunlop Dirrenza DZ1s.

My favorite tire was the AVS Intermediate, ultimate grip in the dry was the Azenis all the way, best rain tires where SP9000s, and for snow I am on my 2nd set of Blizzak WS-50s.

Since I have a set of dedicated winter wheels and suspension, I am not too woried bout anything but steering response and dry grip. Average life expectancy of a tire on my Max is bout 10-20K miles anyways, thats why I had so many sets.

DrKlop- Larrio has those on his Maxima :P I dont wanna copy his car even thou I am not the kinda guy who always has to have something diff. I like the way they look but I am almost sold on the GT2s, especially if TireRack has them in silver.

They also have Competitions in stock right now, but for 400 bux.

What do you guys think of these Weds Sports TC-005s ? I am looking at 18x9 in 39mm offset and they weight 19.6lbs according to TireRack. With my dealer discount I could get them for about 1400.

This is my 2nd choice of wheels if I can't get the GT2s in Silver.

S03 is a tire designed with wet traction in mind. They suck in the dry compared to many tires, Azenis Sport ST-215 and 615 for instance. There are many tires that are much better in the dry. BFG KD is another, S02PP is another, etc.

even if you did deide to get the te37's if the place doesn'y have them in stock they take 3 months to get. My two choices in places to get the volks is www.gruppe-s.com and www.wheeloptions.com. I was looking at getting the TE's but now it's not looking that way.

going thru bada$$ rim withdrawls already huh?.

i was looking for volks or ssrs or gram lites for a long time with nothing found that i liked or could afford. (hence why i wnet with urs)id say keep on the evo forums and look for deals.

i know my max and my friends DSM rims can be swapped depending on offset. theres gza-billions of DSM'ers out there and they have lots of forums, theres gotta be soemthing worthwhile in there everyonce in a while.

or if all else fails contact AMS and see if they have any deals.

I purchased a set of VOLKS today already Not TE37s or anything I have ever seen on a Maxima. I like to keep it old school, 18" obviously, 8" front and 9" rear staggered mesh wheels. I bought them on Ebay today morning.

Ones I bought for my Max. I like mesh style wheels and I think it should look pimp with my drop. 3" slammed front and 1.5" in the rear.

I've heard they are better and don't get greasy when they get hot.

The 615 only last a bit longer than the 215 before getting similar hot & greasy. It's better but still not ideal for extended periods. The 615 sidewalls are a tad softer too - a couple hardcore autoxers are still hording piles of 215's now. Rumor last fall was a new 8xx tire was forthcoming from Falken to compete with all the new models announced recently.

Those are some cool wheels. I was debating between that set, Volk GT-U's and my Blitz's. Those will look great on your car. Wheels are not made like that anymore, in terms of quality.
