Hey this Lexus RS300 pulled up next to me tonight at a light. I was in the right lane and he in the left. So as the light is about to turn he inches up like he wants to race. I was telling myself that I am gonna get my *** kicked but what the hell I am gonna see what my Max can do for the hell of it. Anyway as the light turns green we both gun it & he gets a little of an edge from the start. In second gear I am almost dead even, so then I shift to 3rd & I am still hanging w/ him. My front bumper is at his passenger door. But my lane ends & I have to slow up to merge over. I am surprised I hung w/ this guy. I thought he would blow me out of the water. Anyway does anyone know what this kind of car has......? It would be nice to know. Thanks

I was wondering about that, but you have a '90. Explains it all. BTW, RX300, not RS300.

The Lex has 215 HP, but weighs alot more. The '90 reference was because it only had 160 HP.

Ok thank you for informing me on that issue. If we could of got up to 4th or 5th gear do you think I could have edged him or would he have pulled away?

I know little of how the VGs perform. Maybe, but the numbers are definitely in his favor.

It is. The GS300 is the car, but they both have the same engine.

I took a RX300 on the highway once, it was a piece of cake even with 4 people in the car with me. He couldn't handle it.

BTW, just to clarify things, this is a RX300

Thanks for clearing things up for me about that car. So you think I would have pulled away in the end if I could have gotten to 4th or 5th gear? Cause I was gainin on him in 3rd but lost room.

Actually, not quite true. The GS300 and IS300 have the same engine, a 3.0L I-6, with 215hp in the IS, 220hp in the GS. The ES300 and the RX300 have the same engine, a 220hp 3.0L V6 (similar to Camry and Sienna).

Reading this post, I'm still not sure what kind of car this guy ran with. Was it an ES? An RX? Or an IS? ???

I have both 96 Max GXE auto and 2000 RX300 FWD.
For comfort and quietness, RX300 is definately the one to have. For quickness, the Maxima is my answer.

No, I talked to 90maximaSe, he didn't race an SUV. My guess is that it was an ES300. He said it was a 4d car.

Matt92GXE why would you try & clown on my post? There is no need for that first of all & second no I didn't race a SUV. I am sorry I got the car mixed up...I never in this post said anything about an SUV. Who gives a **** it was a nex Lexus & I hung w/ it.....that's all that matters. Oh yeah by the way thanks BMXSTEVE for clearing things things up w/ Matt92GXE.

Maybe it was a GS...

90maximaSE did say that he expected to have his doors blown off. A GS could definitely do that.
