I don't know if it was ever used, but it was designed to be used in a Europian Touring car circuit that went defunct...

It wasn't put into a car...

Like Whitemax said, the touring car series was cancelled. It was cancelled before it started, so Nissan didn't put the racing VQ in any cars. Detune it a bit(Okay, a lot!), and you've got our Maxima engine.

Your best bet at this point is if you want to do a beefy rebuild, wait until Don in Texas is done with his. I don't know how much he will say was done, but I'm sure most everything he has done for his will be offered by his company, Mobletek Racing. I know I'm looking forweard to it. Now if only someone could make s nice beefy rebuild kit for the manual trannie and we would be set......

Yes, the VQ30DE is used in racing. It is used in some cars in the LMP675 class of the Grand Am series in the U.S. and the ELMS in Europe. A VQ30DE won its class at Donington Park.

Watch the LeMans 24 hour on Speedvision this week-end - there are about half a dozen of them in the LMP 675 class.
Good luck getting the parts.

Where did it say that the engine was the VQ?

It could be the VG30DE in that Lola car. Can't know unless it says so, y'know?
