They dont seem to bother people that much in Florida. I'm guessing because it gets so hot and then tint can cut down on heat. I've seen some pretty dark tints down here.

FL tint laws aren't as strict as other states.

My friends cousin got his es330 done there and you can tell that his rear windshield is a two piece, its just a bit more pricey.

I can't remember the street name. Its off of bloomfield ave just past a strauss auto and before a laundramat thats about a block down. Its around the corner from a pizza place and fishing store.

On another note, can you get kicked off an issurance company for tint tickets? I'm just wondering because I'm still under my dads name because its cheaper and so was my sister. My sister got into an accident, a couple tickets and totaled her car in less than a year so they kicked us off. He's started to get on my case about this tint thing because he's worried that his insurrance will go up. I plan on getting them redone to 35% in the front so I can see a little better at night because some streets around my house aren't lit very well. Any thoughts?
no, tinting has nothing to do with insurance.

As long as your driver & front pass windows are not to dark most cops are usually cool with it. When you go with limo tint all around that's when they start looking at your car more.

in the south: very hard pressed for them to bother. i slipped through a tint event a few months back.. everyone in the area got one and i pull into the gas station with them all starring at me asking me if i got a ticket. then it clicked why this cop stopped in the middle of the road and eyed me like shocked.

but for like 6 years and 3 cars with 5%, that's the only time i've come close to getting a ticket. i've been pulled over a bunch of times with no mention.

now up north, a whole other story.

planning on taking a trip to canada this summer but it will be unlike the maxima will be used.. i am sure i'll get nailed left and right up there especially with my tags

on my old car I had 15% all around and got a ticket for it. Then I re-tinted it, (I had a hookup for free) and I got like 40% all around. 1 week later I got stopped and the cop started *****en at me and gave me a ticket for having 40% tint. The next day I went to a police station and told them I retinted it to the legal limit and they looked at it and said it looks pretty clear and just signed it off I live in SF, CA. Legal tint is 70 or 75% last time i checked. That is clear! When My car is dirty my windows probably have like 65% visibility through them.

I had 5% on my old 03 Altima for over 2 years and never had a problem...then one day I got stopped and checked my tint got hit with a fine... that same week got stopped again but by FHP and lucky I showed them the previous ticket... I had 30 days to correct the problem... I then went and changed them to 35% all around (legal level in FL)...

I know people who have been riding around with 5% tint all around with 30% on the windshield who have yet to be stopped. Sure is a mission to try around day or night..

man guys,
I got pulled over yesterday for 81 in a 55 here in Va. The cop didn't even need to pull out, I saw his brakes come on and I knew I was done so I just pulled in front of him and turned the car off. He told me that I "took all the fun out of it" with a smile on his face. He then told me to roll my window up just a little, he metered it at 22% (legal limit in Va is 50% in the front). Then he went back to his car and was in there for like 20 min. He came back out and told me he was impressed that I did what i did and just gave me the 86 dollar ticket for the tint..... scared the sh*t out of me. I have never gotten a moving violation..... but damn I have come close

I am thinking about getting either precut tint on ebay 20% or going to a place and get them professionally done. Cant have any tint out here but I see many cars with it.

I think it's best to simply spray all your windows with 4 coats of black spray paint.

ha ha ha.... but it does. It really does let a lot of light in and it makes the film look a little lighter. And 35% isn't THAT dark so it shows threw a decent amount anyway. A lot also depends on the interior color.

ah, the standard phrase that everyone uses when they get pulled over for doing anything illegal. "yO dAt PIg hAd nOThINg bEtTeR tO dO yO!!!"

Last time I checked, the police are here to ENFORCE THE LAWS....so if they pull you for illegal tint or anything else, they are doing EXACTLY WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING. duh...

Window tint laws by state: http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/
Not 100% legal advice, just basic guidelines to go by. YMMV.
